My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Solitary person watching the world go by thinking there might be more to life. Not great with people skills, but not a liar or a backstabber, just quiet and nerdy. People that I work with think that I am smart and funny, but that is probably because I work with cops all day and they may not be the best judges of either intelligence or humor.

No stereotypes or pigeonholes, please. Middle of the road or conservative? Atheist-Agnostic-Spritual? I am open to most points of view, and willing to try new activities. My sense of humor is somewhat dry (and sometimes dark) with a healthy dose of sarcasm. I am private by nature, so I will give you my opinion on a subject, but not likely to volunteer until I know you. I would like to hear what you think about the topic as well. And you can be sure that I will say what is on my mind, even if it isn't always politically correct.

Most people that know me think that I am smart, hardworking, and detail oriented. When I get into a project I tend to be very thorough. The job I have right now is fun, interesting and makes a difference, but I mostly leave the job at the office. I'm not as serious as I first appear to be.

I am not opposed to travel, but have never gotten around to it. On the other hand, I really enjoy working in the yard and around the house to try to improve things and make it a more pleasant place to live. And working on cars on the weekend is a choice, not a necessity. Driving aimlessly to random destinations is always interesting, even if the destination doesn't end up as random as it might seem. I am open for lots of activities, although I am still trying to understand all the fascination with dancing.

I am looking for someone to share some intelligent conversation, who is willing to see things from a different point of view. Some people describe me as loyal, others as stubborn. I think of myself as having a healthy skepticism, but some might see that as cynical. I am not any kind of a sales personality, and I am not changing the basics of who I am to gain someone else's approval. I am pretty happy with who I am, and would just like to find someone who appreciates me for who I am, not who they can turn me into.

I have a variety of appearances, suit and tie to worn out jeans and t-shirt. I am not particularly attached to any of them, so change is available. If you don't like what you see, I have probably already changed. Have worked the last twenty years in law enforcement, so the usual -no drugs, no criminals. It takes me a while to trust new people, so don't take it personally.

I am responsible, trustworthy, mostly cheerful, and financially and professionally stable. Having reached that goal, I would like to meet someone with similar background and values. I am set in my ways in some respects, and old-fashioned in some ways, but with a little persuasion, I am adaptable.

The things that I think are most important in a companion are be a nice person, to have integrity, to have a sense of humor, and to be able to think independently, not just repeat things mindlessly. If that describes you well, we might just get along.
