My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I am the vocalist/ lyricist for an up-and-coming band, Maynsurge. I'm currently studying at Clayton State University, seeking a degree in English education. I enjoy writing, reading, listening to music, gaming, and having long (MEANINGFUL) conversations. I'm far from an average guy, though I might not look it. I'm a bit shy, but it doesn't take long to get me out of my shell. I'm a devout Christian, but I'm not the type to judge others for their beliefs or to force my belief onto others. I try to be the best person that I can possibly be, the best friend that one could imagine. I love to laugh and make people laugh. I traded in my Straight Edge for the Jagged Edges of Clayton State University, a self-harm awareness organization set out to erase the stigmas in hopes of breaking the cycle of self-abuse. As a former "cutter," I take this work VERY seriously, so if you have something negative to say about it, you'd be best to keep it to yourself or keep your distance from me. Truth be told, I'm a bit of a misanthrope, meaning that I don't trust very easily and I have an unhealthy loathing for humanity on the whole. I've been known to be extremely moody due to my bipolar disorder, but I'm a very kind and caring person for the most part. As I've previously stated, I'm far from the average guy. I'm not looking for someone to sleep with or look at naked, but someone to spend quality time with. Call me a dreamer, but I believe in true love. I hope to find that one special girl to whom I can give my heart without fear of her breaking it. I don't want to hook up and hang out right away because I'm an old-fashioned type of guy. I believe that past generations were right in the idea of courtship, so I'm not looking to jump into anything too quickly. I find it hard to be open about my emotions because I find them to be my greatest weakness, an uncontrollable vulnerability... If you do decide to message me, please leave a message that I can actually respond to. Although it is a minor boost to my self-esteem, "You're cute." or "Hey sexy." aren't the best conversation starters. Furthermore, if you can't type properly, please don't get offended if I call you on it. As I previously stated, I'm an English major who plans to teach once I get my degree, so it should be understood that I appreciate good grammar, spelling, and sentence structure. If you type in "txt," please don't bother me with it. If there's anything else that you could possibly want to know about me, feel free to message me.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm working on getting my degree and teach certification from Clayton State University. I'm the lead vocalist and lyricist for Maynsurge, an active member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, an officer in the Jagged Edges of Clayton State University (a self-harm awareness group), and much more.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I think that I'm really good at my writing and singing. That's the general consensus, but you'll have to judge for yourself. I also consider myself to be a good listener and am pretty good at giving advice.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
The first two things people notice about me are my voice or my eyes, or so they say. Others say that it's my kind heart and loving nature. Honestly, I figure that it's really the fact that I'm nervous and a bit awkward when meeting new people.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I'm a big fan of anything written by John Grisham or the historical literary geniuses. My favorites are David Liss' The Ethical Assassin, John Grisham's The Firm, and Andrew Vachss' Batman: The Ultimate Evil. I enjoy a wide variety of movies, but my most recent favorite is The Dark Knight. I don't really watch a lot of television, but I have a shows, like Sons of Anarchy, The Big Bang Theory, and How I Met Your Mother, that I watch regularly. My favorite genre of music is definitely rock, especially metal, but I appreciate all different of music. Some of my favorite musical artists include Shinedown, Matthew West, Savage Garden, and Type O Negative. I also like a variety of foods. I'm a firm believer in trying new things, so my interests are pretty open to alteration.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. God
2. Family/ friends
3. Music
4. Pencil and paper
5. Tea
6. The good feeling I get when I know I've been able to help someone
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Forever... They say that forever never lasts, but I know otherwise and I'm constantly thinking about it and my future.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Friday night is just another night for me these days. Lord knows I'd love to have something better to do than hang around the house, but there's not always something better to do. Maybe that can be changed?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Music holds such a strong grip on my heart that certain songs have been known to bring me to tears. For instance, I cried for the entirety of Shinedown's If You Only Knew when I heard them perform it live.
