So here’s what this means: I can cook a great meal for an evening at home, but will also have nights where I can be found singing to a band, or tramping about in the woods. More than once, I’ve woken up covered in mud in the middle of the woods, drove home, showered, and gone to Workplay with my friends to sing my heart out with a band I love. I'm often the guy you see dancing on stage in front of a band. Life's too short to sit on the sidelines.
I value knowledge above all else. I have an insatiable curiosity and genuinely love to learn. I am always listening to a few courses from Teaching Company, taking classes from the university where I am a psychology professor, and watching documentaries. I read a lot, mostly non-fiction or classical literature, with the topic varying depending on what my interests happen to be at that moment. However, I often gravitate towards psychology, popular science, art, philosophy, or astronomy. Actually, I started a popular-science bookclub a few years ago and have enjoyed meeting new people at our monthly meetings. I like to bounce ideas off people and get their perspective; I’m rarely without a notepad. If these things excite you, if you like to learn, and follow up “I wonder” with finding out, we might be a good match.
I’m not all work and no play. I have played racquetball most of my life. I also usually go on one or two hikes a month and go camping several times a year, and would like to share the outdoors with someone. I've traveled all over the south hiking and camping, and I've found myself sharing a campsite with a man biking from Chicago to Mobile by himself, and found myself alone on top of Mt. Cheaha overlooking a valley with the lights from the distant cities melding with the stars. In the past year, I've also been a part of the Birmingham Hash House Hashers, and this has become a regular part of my schedule. On On!
For the past two months (after most of the pictures here were taken), I've been doing the couch to 5k and have lost 25 pounds. I'm now running four miles a few times a week. As soon as I get a picture not in a dress or wearing bunny ears, I will post a new one.
I love witty banter, word play, and laughing until my sides hurt. I enjoy people-watching with irreverent commentary and making stupid bets/dares. I like the old wit of Monty Python and the sarcastic humor of South Park, The Simpsons, Big Bang Theory, and The Daily Show.
I love what I do and want to meet a woman who loves what she does, has her own life, her own passions and is looking for someone to share those things with. I’m looking for someone who has a general joie de vivre—someone who loves a stimulating discussion, or even debate, about something she’s passionate about.
In short, I would like to meet someone who has a playful and passionate curiosity about life, learning, love, and the world. I am looking for a woman who is witty, intelligent, active, passionate, and more than a little quirky. I'm also looking for someone who's interested in a relationship. If you think this might be you, email me and let’s talk. If not, good luck with your search.
