My self-summary
I guess I'm looking for someone to do stuff with. That way I don't have to be the creepy weirdo alone at a restaurant table pretending like my phone is the most fascinating thing. I love exploring, wandering around, by car or foot. A cute small town or a trail in the woods, there's always something you've never seen before, I've found. But I am just as much up for someone to sit with me on the couch and we can be boring together. My ideal existence would be a life on the road in an RV visiting small towns around the country, if only the bathroom situation on board were just a little more amenable.

Personality wise, I'm very easy-going, and mild mannered, but also have strong opinions-- a little less so since Bush has been out of office. I like sci-fi, but need to read more. I just finished grad school for history and I want to be a museum or historic site curator. I also work full-time in the city, which I've found out has hindered my getting to know people up here since I moved to the Hudson Valley a few years ago. It takes a lot to make me dislike a person, but it also takes a lot for someone to impress me. You don't have to be crazily smart, just be into something wholeheartedly, no matter what it is. I'd ideally like someone with dry wit, a sharp eye and appreciation for the subtly unusual aspects of the world, voracious need to better themself with knowledge (of any kind-even the most mundane), and a drive to be the best at something, anything, even something completely stupid. In fact, the more inane the more I will dig you.
What I’m doing with my life
Avoiding the fact that I really should be doing something with my life by now. Sending out resumes for jobs that have something to do with history. Working a job that pays double any job in my chosen field will ever pay.
I’m really good at
Writing, not some amazing fiction or the like, but the free flowing ability to spin half-assed bullshit into a school paper that somehow fools professors into thinking I know what I am talking about. And witty one-liners, but I usually have to have the perfect setup to work my magic.
The first things people usually notice about me
All of my life people have commented on how quiet I am. Oh, if only they knew what's behind my soft spoken mumbling.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love sci-fi but should read more. For now escape pod podcasts keep me sustained. TV:Always Sunny in Philadelphia, How I Met Your Mother, 30 Rock, Lost, X-files, Battlestar, Fringe, Dr. Who. Music: New Order/Joy Division, Gorillaz, Bowie, Slackers, Talking Heads, Morrissey
The six things I could never do without
1. My ipod shuffle- for podcasts not music, I am always hooked in
2. A pet of some sort
3. A comfy bed
4. Hot wings
5. Plants
6. A project to work on- school, work, around the house, crafts
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to fix up a yard/garden I never seem to be in except when I am trying to fix it up. Erecting a noise barrier fence that will drown out the noise of the highway near my house that the zoning board will not condemn because it is made out of rubber mats, old bottles and whatever else the internet tells me blocks sound waves. Seriously I spend hours daydreaming about this.
On a typical Friday night I am
Watching TV. Hanging out with my friends drinking beers. Watching TV and drinking beers.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am Larry David. I can't help it. It can be difficult ordering food at a restaurant sometimes. And like him, I once had a racist dog. Not a good thing when you are living in Bed Stuy.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 26–45

  • For long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You want to hear my tales of being an editor at a magazine that published "true life angel encounters." And one sort of dealbreaker for me is that you have to have at least a minimal knowledge of tv, movies etc. Meaning, please know they exist. This has been an issue a surprising number of times. You'd think that I'd be jumping at the opportunity to be able to pass off Liz Lemon or Tom Haverford nuggets of wisdom as my own, but really it ends up being just sad for everyone involved. Or at least, please be resigned to the fact that I will make you watch all of Battlestar Galactica, unless you can fashion your escape in time.
