Bottom line if you don't want to read all of this: I'm a cool chick. I'm looking for a cool gent to spend some time with. I don't do normal. I have a motorcycle license, I cook, bake, craft like a fiend, find glitter makes everything better, and am a master of the maths (although I answered a math question wrong on here - scavenger hunt! You find it, you get a prize!). Disney is my happy place. You should message me.
Now if you'd like to learn more about me... Hey there! I'm Joanna. I'm a book-loving, passionate, loyal, geeky, Christian, instructional technologist.
What I’m doing with my life
I've been a high school math teacher for the last 10 years. While I have a great appreciation for the beauty of math & logic, I've recently left the classroom to be an instructional technologist for the district. I have a passion for technology & helping other teachers use it effectively. By leaving the classroom, I'll get to affect the lives of many more teachers & students! I'm excited for this change! I have worked hard to achieve a balance in my drive to succeed at work and my desire to maintain a personal life.
Outside of work, I spend quite a bit of time with my family and friends. I'm actively searching for a new church home as mine lacked young adults. While I believe we learn from all ages, I find having a group of Christians who are in a similar life situation can be a huge support. In my free time I love to read, hang at Starbucks, write, go out and about, or complete a random art project. It's kind of a mixed bag with me. ^_^
Don't let my love of math & technology fool you! My creative side is quite strong. I decorate cakes and cookies (think Ace of Cakes or Cake Boss) to pick up some extra cash. I also run a Disney travel blog that focuses on sharing my travel experiences and helping others have a better trip to Disney World, my happy place. Ask me, and I'll be happy to share the URL.
I’m really good at
...crazy fast texting, math, craft projects, cake decorating,
speeding through traffic on my scooter, blogging, coming up with a
sarcastic response, making people laugh, amateur photography,
baking, cooking, organizing, finding beauty wherever I am...
The first things people usually notice about me
I've been told my eyes are stunning. I suppose that could be it. :)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm an avid reader. Some of my favorite reads: The Hunger Games, LotR, Harry Potter, The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices, The Parasol Protectorate, and Marvel Comics. I prefer fantasy & YA fiction.
Movies: Anything from The Fast & The Furious to How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. No horror flicks for me though!
TV: Firefly, Friends, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Real World/Road Rules Challenge, The Big Bang Theory, HIMYM, New Girl, Glee, Grey's Anatomy, Once Upon a Time, Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, & Scandal... my shows keep getting cancelled!
Music: I love an eclectic mix of music. Most anything but death metal & rap (although I like some). My music varies with my moods.
Food: I'm willing to try most anything. Raising Canes is my guilty pleasure. :) Newly in love with sushi since, when I turned 31, I promised myself I'd try it.
The six things I could never do without
* My iDevices (MacBook Pro, iPad mini, iPhone, Apple TV - I refuse
to count those as 4!)
* My sense of whimsy
* Glitter because life can always use more sparkle
* A good book
* Coke Slurpees
* My shih-tzu, Sprinkles
I spend a lot of time thinking about
...honestly? How to be better. I'm always reflecting & always
On a typical Friday night I am
Why does it have to be "typical?" My nights all have the
possibility of random fun. Fridays usually find me pretty exhausted
from my crazy week, so I enjoy a nice night in with a good book or
some Hulu+. I can be swayed though. ;-)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I once fell down a flight of stairs in college, basically sliding
down the entire thing on my backpack in front of half the student
body. When a friend ran to the bottom of the stairs and asked if I
was ok, I exclaimed, "MY CALCULATOR!" because I'd landed on my
backpack. She walked away pretending she didn't know me. -_-
You should message me if
I am looking for a Christian man who knows how to communicate, wants a long term relationship (at least dates with that being an option), and shares my interests and sense of humor. I have a lot to give, but I'm looking for a man to compliment my life, not complete it.
I want to go out and enjoy what the metroplex has to offer! Bowling, dinner, coffee... those are all fine, but they're the norm. Let's explore a museum making up stories about the art, try out a new game like and escape room or Top Golf, get creative painting (and drinking wine) or glazing ceramics. Let's go to winery for a wine tasting or test out a new hole in the wall restaurant! Let's do something different!
So if my profile appeals to you, drop me a well-written line. ;-)
I've been told my profile says I rarely respond... Honestly, it takes a bit more than "hi" or "you're pretty" to lure me in, and those are mostly the messages I get. Show me you took time to read my profile (and noticed I'm an educator... complete lack of punctuation & capital letters is a total turn off for me). :-) I promise that I read the profile of every man who messages me.
