My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm in late 30s, I have glasses, a dog, and usually facial hair. Other details change as necessary.

I'm the only guy I know who went into college a cynic and came out an idealist. I spent 10 years working for two separate Governors (not the current one) trying to make my corner of the world a little bit of a better place. I have a sharp mind, a cluttered house, a dirty sense of humor, an awesome dog, an affable spirit, and a certain joie de vivre.

Edited to add:
After reactivating my account after a year off of OKC I think I need to add a few disclaimers.

First, my account is set up to only see profiles with pictures, so if you don't have a photo you'll have to contact me first.

Secondly, because I tend toward GGG answers (if you have any questions as to what that means, please ask!) I get very high matches with kinky and poly folks. That's great, because I usually really like kinky and poly folks, and I've become great friends with many kinky and poly people. However, my experience with kink and poly is pretty limited. I would classify myself as kink-friendly and poly-friendly, and I'm happy to experience and push boundaries with the right partner, but neither is a lifestyle choice.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Adventure. Amour. Absurdity.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Longish hikes. Shortish runs. Focus and tenacity (or, if what I'm doing annoys you: hardheadedness). Systems. Thinking about things, and making them either much simpler or much, much more complicated than they need to be.

Also pub trivia.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My dog, she's much more interesting than I am. I'm a bit of a smart ass. I've also been told I have a nice smile.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I'm not sure I have a favorite book, I do like certain authors, David Foster Wallace, Warren Ellis, Namoi Novik, Grant Morrison.

My favorite films are Metropolis, Yojimbo, Lost Highway, and a 20 place tie for 4th. I try to attend Retrofantasma at the Carolina Theatre in Durham, and the outdoor Summer movie series at the NCMA.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer got me through Law School. I love Doctor Who, even when it's not very good. Top Gear makes me happy, even though I drive a Ford Focus. Justified is awesome. I miss 30 Rock. Dexter is fun, even if they never managed to make a season as good as the first one again. My favorite Star Trek is DS9, partially because I once got drunk with Captain Sisko.

My musical taste is all over the map, but I have a special fondness for 80's music.

I've recently tried to become vegetarian, so I'll eat anything that's not meat (although I still occasionally eat seafood).
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. My dog (it's her world, we're just living in it)
2. The flea market (might buy some apples, might buy a knock-off Sean John t-shirt)
3. Something with a good beat I can dance to
4. People to care for that care for me
5. A high tolerance for chaos
6. Spell-check.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The meaning of life. How to make the world a better place. Actually, those two might be related.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Probably looking for a place with good music.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I was once in a Turkish prison. Well, okay, it was more of a Turkish drunk tank.
