My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I I am a physically relaxed and mentally high energy man with very wide interests. I have a positive outlook and a very well developed sense of the ridiculous. I have recently been diagnosed with a very serious disease that will slowly erode the strength in my legs and arms. Consequently, I recognize I may not be a real good candidate for a long term relationship. I have an amazing amount of love to share but it will probably have to be as long or short term friends, and most likely not as partners... I am open to a long term partnership but would be fine with close friendship. I am beginning to have a little trouble walking on uneven ground so I am no longer able to hike and climb like I love to do. I have a prescription for medical marijuana which I use to reduce the muscle inflammation from my disease. I am a widower with two grown daughters. I am now retired. I have opened an important new chapter in my life. I volunteer as a Grief Counselor with Memorial Hospice. I last worked full time as a Librarian in an elementary school. I also worked as a Play Room Therapy Aide at the same school. One of my other main passions is making music with friends and strangers. I am slowly losing my finger dexterity so am having to curtail my playing bass in bands anymore. The woman for me will want a man who is polite, affectionate, gentle and full of fun while still having a strong serious side. She must be able to handle me often doing the cooking, washing the dishes and giving great massages to her, the woman I love....I don't mind receiving a massage either from the woman who loves me.... I am still able and more than willing to be intimate with the right woman and will work hard to satisfy our wishes for energetically peaceful closeness. I am an avid reader - several hours most days.. I grew up in a family with 11 kids (9 sisters 1 brother)!! I am extremely liberal in political leanings but have a very open mind that usually tends to see the 'other viewpoint' on many issues. I am deeply spiritual but not religious. I see the commonalities in all religions as good things and the differences as Bad things! My main pursuits are my home, friends, garden and music. I help my mildly disabled daughter with food shopping and appointments every week and keep up with my other daughter's life in SF. I have a very logical mind that often can zero in on solutions to many varied situations. This is often both a blessing and a curse. When I was an elementary school librarian I nurtured my students by allowing them to use their imaginations to learn to love books and reading. I was a successful finish carpenter and project manager for 20 years in the construction industry. Later I was a very skilled computer network project manager specializing in nationwide operating system upgrades. I did computer work for 9 years. I can often crack up my friends with my silly sense of what goes on, particularly obscure viewpoints that entertain others (I hope)! The first things people usually notice about me are my open expression and goofy smile. I feel more free to speak with strangers than most people. I love little children and interact with them a great deal more than most people do. I tend to laugh a lot and very often at myself. I read much on Nature, the Cosmos and History. I have favorite fiction series. I love many many types of music. I listen to a lot of jam grass, Irish, Brazilian, and ethnic world music in general . I love good ol' rock and roll, country (it's the stories), island reggae ( it's the BEAT), bluegrass (it's the tempo) and especially expressive melodic jam music (it's the intent and execution). Things I could never do without - My friends. My daughters. My basses and amps. My home. My sense of humor. My sense of wonder and growth. Message me if you want to !!!! (( :-)....
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I am retired due to my disease's progression. I have very deeply taken on a new role in my life, acting as a volunteer Grief Counselor with Memorial Hospice. I co-facilitat two grief groups - one with children and one with spouses who have lost loved ones.I last worked full time as a Librarian in an elementary school. I also worked as a Play Room Therapy Aide at the same school. My main pursuits are my home, friends, garden and music. I spend a great deal of time with friends - playing music on my bass, cooking dinners, planning and nurturing the Repair/Saving of the World!!! I spend a lot of time trying to tame my garden. I help my mildly disabled daughter with food shopping and appointments every week and keep up with my other daughter's life in SF.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Being there for my friends and family. I have a very logical mind that often can zero in on solutions to many varied situations. This is often both a blessing and a curse.
I am a pretty good bass player and a really good band mate. Here are two YouTube videos of my last band live at Stanford U. last April - - >

The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My open expression, goofy smile and high energy. I feel more free to speak with strangers than most people. I love little children and interact with them a great deal more than most people do. Since I worked as a Librarian and Playroom Therapy Aide in an elementary school and I grew up in a family with 11 kids I am very comfortable with kids of all ages. I am quick in conversation and somewhat sure of my self in most situations. I tend to laugh a lot and very often at myself.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I do not see many movies but love many books. I try to mix in a wide variety of non fiction with my novels. I am am avid reader of both factual and fictitious novels, mostly adventure/crime/detective/etc.... I have recently read "When Things Fall Apart" by Pema Chodron, "The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz, and "Milk and Honey" by Faye Kellerman. I read much on Nature, the Cosmos and History. I have favorite fiction series I like to read - Alex Cross, Dismas Hardy, Kay Scarpetta, the Prey novels, any Dan Brown, etc.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My friends and family.
My 2 daughters.
My home and garden.
My basses and amps.
My sense of humor
My sense of wonder
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I spend a lot of time thinking about way too much. I have a naturally multitasking brain that is constantly seeing all the varied nuances of everything. This often leads me in circles and spirals that lead to more thoughts. Usually this leads to a humorous aspect and cracks me up :-) Recently I have been thinking about how fragile our health really is. I think of the nature of life a great deal and the apparent growing Dangers to Life, as We Know It - I (We) gotta keep working on that.....
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Hopefully renewing myself cooking a great dinner. If not that, then I might go out to hear music and hopefully be inspired to dance a little. But mostly I stay home alone and hopefully be inspired to dance a little or play bass and dance a little.......
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I am more comfortable around women than I am around men. I grew up with 9 sisters and that is probably why!!!!

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
If you want to date, get to know, hopefully share intimacy with a mature man who is youthful in many important ways. I'm not about a long term relationship due to my illness. If you care to get to know more about me as I get to know more about you.
The woman for me will want a man who is polite, affectionate, gentle, zany, and full of fun while still having a strong serious side. She needs to want a very affectionate man who is very much into touch and physical closeness. She must be able to handle me often doing the cooking, washing the dishes and giving great massages to her, the woman I love.... I also love to receive great massages from the woman who loves me....!
