I'm a longtime Bay Area scientist with roots in Massachusetts. Love it on the left coast! Looking for a girl friend who does not want to travel the world (immediately) but enjoys this wonderful zone for all it is worth. With said girl friend want to be active, go to events in the art zone, music zone, fun zone.

Dating in electronic land is not easy--guys just want to have fun, too. Being an intellectual does not mean I'm not funny. I have a quirky view of things perhaps, due to the lack of a participating mother when I grew up. I like the usual intellectual activity zones of museum, opera, and theater, but like the beach, movies, hiking, the woods or wherever. I enjoy music, movies, poetry readings, reading novels and science, writing, and the arts.

I'd like to go to Ireland soon, continue feeding the birds and squirrels out back, as well as Kendra, the goldfish, and write at least one novel.

Still working, keeing the brain cells moving in a rapid fashion. Did you know that the cerebrospinal fluid in your head moves rapidly with every heartbeat?

Making connections, as in connecting the dots. I think it started there anyway.

Movies by Fassbinder and Fellini. Noir. Silent films. Argo was very good. Like Person of Interest, Elementary tv shows. Started to watch Homeland recently--Carrie does need that clozapine!

Some favorite all-time modern fiction writers--Angela Carter, J.G. Ballard, Kathy Acker, William Burroughs, Thomas Disch, Cormac McCarthy. Like James Ellroy, Michael Connelly, Christina Stead, Joan Aiken.

I listen to KFJC, but I can listen to almost anything, except extremely loud music.

My favorite non-operatic singers are Gram Parsons, Sandy Denny, and, this is embarrassing, I should never admit it, Frank Sinatra. I love most of Monk and Miles Davis, Eric Dolphy, Coltrane, and Charlie Parker--I have been listening to a lot of later Miles stuff lately, Joy Division. John Dowland. Flow My Tears, baby. Rodriguez, too. Sorry I can't see him at the Warfield next month.

Latest music event attended--Ducktails, new psychedelic band, at the Chapel in SF. I listen to many different kinds of music all the time, opera, classical, soundtracks (Morricone and Rota), the McGarrigle sisters and their kids now, the Clash, but I really don't know much hiphop, Jay-Z, etc.

Many different things - from small RNAs to the ailments of man to the bizarre status of US politics to the all the madness, sadness and joy that human creatures are tortured by and enjoy every day.

It used to be watching Fringe, the tv show, but that's over. Lately, out dining a date! Or going to music shows.

I wear toe shoes on the weekend, thank you, Barefoot Doctor, and I'm eating a paleolithic-influenced diet, with significant lapses.
