My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I've gone bungee jumping in Cancun, skiing at Whistler, and hiking through Philmont. I'm comfortable being a homebody --staying home, watching Netflix, and cooking -- but I also enjoy going to events like Burning Man or seeing shows like The Blue Man Group, Avenue Q, or just an act at a comedy club.

I've been lucky enough to travel the world and see things like the deer of Nara, Japan who roam the streets hoping for people to give them snacks (in the form of pancakes) and the architectural genius of La Sagrada Familia by Antoni Gaudi in Barcelona, Spain. My most recent trip was up to Montreal, Canada to feast on poutine since it seems impossible to find here. It's fries, gravy, and cheese, you'd think the American public would be rallying to demand it.

I'm an Eagle Scout and it shows. I'm kind, patient, and inquisitive. I like to help people and I generally go out of my way to do so. I feel strongly that the world would be a better place if everyone got the support they needed.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work at Hopkins maintaining their computer infrastructure and also do freelance programming/engineering. I create custom computer systems or programs for small companies in my free time.

I've recently taken up Meditation and am getting back into reading with my Kindle. I try and use my eliptical every day.

I've taken my love of food and experimentation into the world of charcuterie, the wonderful land of homemade bacon, sausages, and smoked salmon. I've also been making a good deal of fresh pasta.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm awesome at cooking and I really like introducing people to food like homemade marshmallows or paneer. I make kickass lemon marshmallows and people always demand that I make them again. I love to make food for people and hear their opinions.

I'm a problem solver and I love digging deep into subjects.

Hearing things that are hard to hear, like high frequency noises. Useful if we ever get attacked by neon signs.
The first things people usually notice about me

I've got a bit of a shaved head thing going on. You probably noticed that.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Catch-22, The Giver, Haunted. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is one of the few books I've read over and over again.

TV: Downton Abbey, House of Cards, Futurama, South Park, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Arrested Development, and The Daily Show. Last Week Tonight with John Oliver has become a complete favorite.

Movies: The Lion King is a comforting favorite. A close second is the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. In general, I like comedies and musicals such as Monty Python and History of the World Part I. Some of my other favorites are Leon the Professional, Sweeney Todd, Princess Bride, A Clockwork Orange, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Disney and Pixar movies such as Wall-E or The Incredibles.

Shows/Plays: I really liked Avenue Q and The Book of Mormon. The Phantom of the Opera was very unique in Vegas with a flying chandelier built into the theater.

Music: Mozart's Requiem is my favorite classical composition. I don't have many music favorites, I listen to most anything people tell me to. Recently I've been listening to Parov Stelar, Lupe Fiasco, Hopsin, and a lot of electronic dance music.

Food: I'm adventurous about food; I like to try new restaurants and products all the time. I'm partial to aggressively seasoned food (think Spanish or Indian) and I try to mimic it in my cooking. I like to make desserts like homemade marshmallows and peanut butter cups but have lately been more responsible about making healthier dishes like pasta and soup.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
An entertaining show or book
A workable kitchen
Sparkling Water
Ents of all kinds
Google Maps
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How much better the world would be if we all thought about things in the long term instead of the short term.

I think about politics a lot but it tends to be an exercise in frustration. I also geek out about things that interest me and I spend months researching them.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I like to relax from work by going out to see a movie at The Charles Theater, going to a new or cool restaurant like Chazz, rereading Hitchhikers for the umpteenth time, or cooking a lasagna or stir-fry while listening to Chef John of Food Wishes.

On the weekend I usually go for a hike around the city, there's a few locations within an hour that are rather nice like the Loch Raven Reservoir.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm only culturally Jewish; I'm more nonreligious than anything.
