My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Welcome welcome to my little section of OKC. Make yourself comfortable. Please mind the breakables.

I'm kind of a nerd. I'm an intersectional feminist, respectful atheist and part-time dad to an awesome spawnling.

I'm a pretty positive person who has an optimistic outlook on life. I try to stay positive no matter what each day brings.

(Side note, I'm half-convinced my reckless and boundless optimism is a result of my parents forcing me to watch Pollyanna over and over Clockwork Orange style and then blocking out my memories. That's a plausible explanation right?)

I'm very involved in the local nerd community. Partly as a result of running my own events and partly because I am on the staff of Ottawa Geek Market. It's a thrill to be able to work with some AMAZING people.

Oh and I really enjoy cooking. Particularly when I have someone who can appreciate my creations!

And I've been known to drop British slang/language and curses into my language at frequent intervals.

So what qualities do I seek?

Well, first off while there are qualities that interest or attract me I'm aware of the value of keeping an open mind.

That said, a lady who is curious and engaged with the world around us. Someone with whom I can have an interesting conversation that wends its way from feminism to the zombie apocalypse with stops for commentary about the economics of Star Trek would be awesome.

Beyond that, I’d like someone who is a bit nerdy, and maybe a bit creative in some way. Someone who will introduce me to new and interesting things. And finally, someone who is passionate about life and is excited about the possibilities each new day brings with it.

I also want someone who is *ready* for the potential of a serious relationship. I know that doesn't happen over night. And that's ok. But it's frustrating to be working towards something and investing and the person just decides not that they're not interested. But that they're not ready. And I'm left feeling awful because I have started to feel something for this person, they feel something for me. But it's still over.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
- Planning world domination and trying to figure out how attach laser cannons to the heads of sharks.

- Very slowly learning to play the guitar.

- Working a contract with an awesome event!

- I also run singles/social events and have a FB group for nerdy/geeky people in the Capital region to meet and connect:
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Being a dork.
Making folks laugh.
Putting people at ease.
Being me.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'd have to take a survey maybe? But I suspect it'd be my laugh or smile. Or maybe the epic beard? *strokes beard* this merits some thought....
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Bear in mind this list is NOT complete. I could write volumes on my favourite media and foods.

Worth noting, Aaron Sorkin and Joss Whedon are two of my favourite creators ever. If they've worked on it, odds are I love it!

Jim Butcher,
George Orwell,
Patrick Rothfuss,
Scott Lynch,
Robert J Sawyer,
John Scalzi.

The Shawshank Redemption,
12 Angry men,
The classic Star Wars.
Dr. Horrible's Sing-along-blog,
Repo The Genetic Opera.

Also, all the Marvel movies. Because, awesome.

Boston Legal,
The West Wing,
Babylon 5,
Doctor Who, (mostly the newer stuff)
Star Trek, (all)
The Closer,
Buffy and Angel.

Food: Well I'm pretty easy going. Though I do dislike most seafood; except Sushi, i love Sushi, can't get enough of it!

I also enjoy video games. Feel free to ask what some of my favourite games might be.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Putting aside the obvious of food and shelter, family and friends etc...
*As much as it seemed like an aside; friends and family are, by the way, darn DARN important!

My Android
My Bus Pass
My Computer
Good books!

Bonus #7; This is one of those that both is and is not obvious: Good conversation.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How I might re-jig my apartment again to optimize the space even more.
The next recipe I want to experiment with.
My next read.

And lots of other things. I tend to think a lot about a lot.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
It depends. Sometimes a quiet evening of Netflix and videogaming. Sometimes out with friends. It all depends on what's going on.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Part 1: I'm rather mortified to admit that for a very long time I had "alot" instead of "a lot" somewhere on my profile.

*hangs head in shame.*

Aaron Sorkin is my happy place.
