My Notes edit
My self-summary
I spent a year in Little Rock working with kids who needed the extra help...and I miss my babies. I call them my kids so often without thinking that people look at me and go, "...you have kids?" Sure -- I had 90 of them!
Give me adventure: a spontaneous trip to DC or a city trip with no defined locations. Long bus rides? Fine by me!
My hands are always busy -- writing, folding, beading, knitting, making a meal, building a house, everything is an implement of art, whether fine, craft, culinary or blue-collar, as long as you can see everything as artistic.
I'm not looking for anything very serious right now, but I love talking with new people and sharing good discussion over tea or coffee. But, you know, if you want to share a hammer at Habitat for Humanity or something, that's good too!
What I'm doing with my life
- for financial aid at Dowling where I'm working toward an Elementary Education degree
- for a volunteer position as a civilian caseworker for foster children
- for a residency at an artist's retreat in NH over the summer
...oh, and I'm rearranging my room.
I'm really good at
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Slaughterhouse Five, Waiting for Godot, Five Stories by Salinger, any poetry by Billy Collins, anything on Art History, whatever strikes my fancy at the moment
Movies:
Love Actually, Pan's Labyrinth, Hot Fuzz, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, RENT, Sweeney Todd, musicals, teacher movies (think Stand and Deliver, Freedom Writers or Dangerous Minds)
Music:
Anything but screamo
Food:
Give me raw tuna and avocado and I'm a happy person <3 fresh fruits and vegetables, especially local, herbal and oriental teas, anything from Fay Da Bakery or Pinkberry (in the city)
The six things I could never do without
2. my hands
3. kids
4. I'll admit it...my laptop/internet
5. paper
6. fresh produce
I spend a lot of time thinking about
On a typical Friday night I am
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here
...oh, and I have Velma moments. ("My glasses!")
