My self-summary
Hi! I moved to Minnesota about a year ago as part of my move- somewhere-you-haven't-been-before-without-knowing-anyone-that-lives-there project. I would like to expand my social circle or, failing that, at least be continually distracted by strangers.
What I’m doing with my life
I used to do conservation work; currently back in school for bio resource engineering so I learn and work on food/water issues in a more productive and less menial fashion. I would like to help make the food system more fair and less wasteful.

I work in a biosafety quarantine lab most of the time, and do fieldwork and greenhouse work the rest. Volunteer with planned parenthood and Sister's Camelot.
I’m really good at
Cooking from scratch. I also ferment foods (tempeh) and drink (beer, wine, cider). I've started hydroponic gardening and I've been trying to grow oyster mushrooms (haven't been able to get them fruit. Fungi just does what it wants!)
Moving large rocks; related skill: writing resumes that parlay my rock moving experience into marketable job skills. (quote during interview on the importance of teamwork: "some rocks are just too big to move by yourself" Ha. Didn't get that job.)
Eating blue berries?
sleeping in cars, trains, buses, planes.
biking/walking/hiking for long lengths of time.
The first things people usually notice about me
RRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
G.K. Chesterton, Haruki Murakami, David Sedaris, Hunter S Thompson, James Baldwin, Dostoevsky, F. Scott Fitzgerald. cookbooks of all sorts.

kate beaton comics.

30 rock, the simpsons, futurama, arrested development, adventure time, archer, and the colbert report.

The best music is music made with friends, but here are some bands who I wish were my friends/not dead from heroin overdoses: Queen, Broken Social scene (and feist (and stars)), Devil makes three, bad religion, Ani difranco, thin lizzy, modest mouse, iron maiden, death, megadeth, red knife lottery, nick drake, charles mingus, nomeansno, thought industry, ornette coleman, sigur ros, neko case, neutral milk hotel, the replacements, talking heads, gogol bordello.

I love southeast Asian and Indian food. I also have a deep and abiding love of noodles. I don't care if you aren't vegan; I do care if you would like to make and eat pie with me.
The six things I could never do without
1. Brain in a vat
2.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to best share resources. Did I lose my keys? No, they're there. Good.
Science! Food. food science. Everything else. Did I lose my keys? No, they're still there. Fantastic.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I can't whistle despite earnestly trying to learn several times; I know what shame sounds like.

You kind of want to, but just don't feel like it. We could talk that and other things we are ambivalent about. That might or might not be nice.
You have other miscellaneous reasons which are supernatural in origin.
