My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm generally a happy, optimistic person. I tend to take life as it comes, having learned a long time ago that going crazy over the little things serves no purpose. Simple pleasures, like the first day of the year that's warm enough to walk around without a coat on, make me happy.

I grew up moving around a lot, and I love to travel. Even with all the places I've seen, there still a long list of places I want to go.

I love aquariums - I find them endlessly fascinating.

The quickest way to get my attention is with some kind of interesting but completely useless trivia. If I'm curious about something, I either have to Google it immediately, or write it down so I remember to look it up later on. So don't be surprised if I burst out with random facts or stories now and again.

"Spinogelatinous" is my new favorite word.

Pirate jokes make me giggle and I really love heist movies. I'm not entirely sure what those two things say about me.

I scream on roller-coasters. No, wait -- "scream" sounds ladylike and dainty. OK, it's more like I holler on roller coasters.

I'd love to learn to play chess. If you can teach me, I can offer backgammon lessons in return.

If you want to know more, ask me.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a journalist. Right now, I'm an editor for a business magazine.

I love what I do - I'm still enough of an idealist to believe that good journalism really can change the world.

That being said, I work to live, not live to work. My career is important to me, but so are my friends, my family, and making a life for myself that goes beyond the office.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Writing. Asking questions. Telling stories. Seeing both sides of an issue.

And singing in the shower - of course it helps that my bathroom has good acoustics.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Too many favorite books to name, but Khalil Gibran, Shel Silverstein, Chuck Palahniuk, Mary Roach, Ray Bradbury, George Orwell, and Neil Gaiman are up there. Books are constantly threatening to take over my apartment (figuratively speaking), and I may have to start using them as furniture.

I love movies, and I'll watch almost any kind - favorites include The Usual Suspects, The Shawshank Redemption, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Star Trek IV and VI, The King's Speech, My Cousin Vinny, Cloud Atlas, 300, Trading Places (which I can pretty much recite from memory), and just about anything done by Mel Brooks. I tend to stay away from horror movies because they give me nightmares. (My one exception is zombie movies, which I kinda love.) And of all the James Bond movies ever made, I still consider Goldfinger to be the absolute best.

I have a very eclectic taste in music. I love rock and roll, I was raised on the Beatles, Santana, Eric Clapton, BB King, and Simon and Garfunkel, and I have a passion for classical music. I played the piano for almost 20 years, and have recently taken up the violin (I can't play much of anything yet, but I'm learning). I'll listen to anything once to see if I like it, but I try to avoid really twangy country music - it sets my teeth on edge. A few faves - Muse (recently saw them in concert and they were incredible), Fun., Lenny Kravitz, Springsteen, Pink, 77 Bombay Street, Sinatra, Death Cab for Cutie, and Oasis.

I've recently started watching Game of Thrones, and I'm completely enthralled. And I'm an NPR devotee.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
In the fourth grade, I was cast as a Munchkin in our classroom production of the "Wizard of Oz." Unfortunately, I was one of the tallest kids in my class at the time, so I had to do the entire play on my knees. Do you have any idea how hard it is to skip around joyfully in a circle, while holding hands with other fourth graders, all while on your knees? It was not fun.

You're an intelligent, fun guy, who enjoys good music, good conversation, good food, and trying new things. You're willing to experience my interests (the theater, museums, exploring NYC) and introduce me to yours. Bonus points if you're a football fan. Extra jumbo bonus points if you're a Giants fan.
