My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
A born and bred New England boy who made the best decision of his life and moved to California right after college with no job and all my worldly belongings stuffed into my car. Somehow it all worked out really well. A few years later, I ended up in DC. How'd I get here? It's a long story, you'll have to ask in person. I'm pretty laid back but very driven career wise. I'm sarcastic, love to laugh and I just can't take myself too seriously outside of work. I like people who challenge me and bring something new to my life. I talk about politics and other Very Serious Things all day at a pretty intense job, so I'd much rather be laughing my ass off about something stupid that discussing the sequester outside of work.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I write for a magazine that covers global politics. I'm also trying to get my own side business off the ground. When I'm not at work I'm doing everything from taking Arabic classes to crossift and yoga to skiing/snowboarding/kayaking/hiking to finding new places to eat/drink and listen to great music with my friends. I've been known to take crazy bike rides all over DC. On one of these rides, we found the Ringling Bros circus train in the middle of Anacostia. There were circus folk actually living on the train. Seriously, I couldn't make than up.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Making friends, anything adventurous, traveling, outdoor sports, enjoying life.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
No idea, my laugh?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I listen to everything from LCD Soundsystem, Tame Impala, Miike Snow, Theophilus London and Thievery Corp to David Bowie, James Brown, Marvin Gaye and even Serge Gainsbourg. My all time favorite is the Clash. Seriously, I listen to it all, as long as it's good.

Secretly, I'd love to quit my 'real job' and open a speakeasy that serves amazing drinks and played incredible music. Wait, I think that one's been done a few times ;)

I'm pretty adventurous when it comes to food, I've eaten local dishes all around the world and I'll try pretty much anything once. Also I love to cook. It relaxes me big time, although I'm still learning. Care to teach me?

My favorite book used to be On The Road, but I haven't read it in years. I've got pretty wide open literary tastes Dave Eggers to Hunter Thompson and Hemingway and a ton of stuff in-between. I'm a journalist, so I also read a ton of news and books on international relations, even when I'm sick of it. Waaaay too much to list here.

Movies: Anything that makes me laugh. Anchorman, the Hangover, The Royal Tenenbaums, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and on and on. Same goes for TV. Mad Men, Breaking Bad, The Daily Show, Colbert Report, It's Always Sunny, etc.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
The outdoors, specifically mountains and ocean
Adventures of all kinds
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Where I'm going with my life, how I'm going to get my own company off the ground, random stuff that makes me laugh.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Out with friends till the wee hours; anywhere from Eighteenth Street Lounge to Dodge City or The Raven (best dive in DC). Or, I'm taking it easy at home after a long work week so that I can get out enjoy the weekend. No one likes wasting a whole Saturday because their hungover.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
