My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I tend to be playful, funny, romantic, and somewhat adventurous. But also careful...meaning I approach those last two with a plan. Although I've learned it can work out just as well sometimes if you don't have a plan.

Flying is my passion. Soon it will be my new career so I'm often training or studying. I look for excuses to share this amazing experience.

I love a great sense of humor. I like to make people laugh whenever I can even if it's at my own cost.

Music is amazing to me. Creating music is pretty much another passion but I don't make much time for it. I wish my life had a soundtrack, especially if I wrote the music. Wouldn't having a life soundtrack be an amazing stress reducer?

I love the outdoors, nature, and hiking. I recently discovered snow shoeing as a good winter alternative to hiking so, if you’re interested, let’s go romp around in some snow! I also really enjoy days in, relaxing, playing games, etc.

Traveling and experiencing other cultures will be something I strive to do throughout my life. I love to see how the people of other cultures interact and how they think.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I make time for friends whenever I can.

Working as an engineer and thinking about flying.

Also, flying and thinking about flying. I have been lucky to have my engineering job where I got to travel the world. I've learned a ton about the world as well as myself but now it's time to move forward with my flying career.

I co-own a small two-seat airplane that has the gas mileage of a 26 MPG, road trip! Um, I mean, airplane trip! Seriously, I take the plane over the car whenever I can and I would like to find someone that's into that or at least willing to give it a try whenever the comfort level is there but no pressure...I mean, at least at 12,000 feet there's less pressure anyway. Yeah, sorry for the horrible pun.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Rambling. As you can tell by my profile... :)

Performing random knife sharpness checks with my thumb while cooking. "Yep, it's still sharp!"

Performing random gravity checks. Especially when coming down the stairs. I don't do them as often as the knife sharpness checks but still an important part of my routine to ensure that physics remains intact (that's important for the flying thing).

Flying UFO's! I frequently fly a little plane that most people have trouble identifying even if they know planes. We affectionately call it, "the egg".

Now where's the "I'm kind of good at" section?
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Probably my sense of humor and willingness to make people laugh,
even if it means making a fool of myself. But I can be serious when I need to be.

I look a few years older than I am. Always have. Also, I've always been able to grow a good beard, which I like to do every now and then. I once went to the Olive Garden with a bunch of friends in high school. I was offered a wine list and no one else ID, no nothing. They must have assumed I was a chaperon although I was always the youngest one in my group of friends!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Books: Catch 22, The Wheel of Time series. I like to read but, unfortunately, I don't make the time for leisure reading at this point in my life. I actually do read quite a bit but it's aviation stuff like FAA regulations (boring, right?) and also the awesome fun stuff on flying, pilot skills, and weather; always learning...

Pilot Operating Handbooks are fun because that means I'm learning how to fly a new plane!

I'd rather learn about you by talking to you but if you happen to have written a book about yourself, it may be beneficial to have the extra reference material. Just kidding! Or am I?

Movies: Amelie is one of my favorites. Braveheart, The Aviator, Super Troopers, Dumb and Dumber, The Hangover, Lost in Translation (if not only for the commentary on what it's like to travel to a place that is totally foreign to you), etc. There are a lot of good ones out there...

Shows: I get into a variety of TV shows when I have time or just need some time to myself to unwind. Dexter, New Girl, Grimm, the Walking Dead, etc. I could probably get into most of them if I had time in my life to watch them...maybe one day when I have someone to cuddle with...other than unwinding while having dinner, I feel like I'm wasting time when I watch a show by myself. Also, I got rid of cable years ago when I was traveling all the time. Now I do the internet thing but still haven't justified paying for anything.

As for a different kind of "show", I was able to catch "In the Heights" on Broadway a year or two ago. I find all those musical-type events always have some great humor in them and a fun outlook on life. For some reason, I've always found plays and musicals to be really amusing and entertaining. Maybe it's the personal touch of having actors on stage...

I listen to almost all music. I love creating it. But, when it comes to listening, I can't rule out a single genre and I'll listen to everything from classical, blues, and jazz, to Latin, pop/rock, and techno stuff. My least favorites are probably rap and country, but even then, there are some good ones in there. Modern music is mixing all the pop, techno, and rap anyway...I think mostly good results.

Food: Sushi! Of course I have to throw a good word in there for Dutch food, which is kind of a strange collection of foods, which I would be more than happy to share with you. But I enjoy all kinds of food and love trying new things, especially foreign foods. Odd side note, if you happen to be vegetarian, I make some mean vegetarian/vegan fajitas! In fact, I've gotten better at making quite a few vegetarian and/or vegan dishes.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
-Family and friends.

-The gift of flight and the ability to get away from "it all", once I'm in an airplane/off the ground, my ground-based stress just melts away.

-Natural areas, trails, parks, etc. Places to relax, hike, and enjoy nature.

-Technology. How else would I do flight planning, check the weather 1000 miles away, and search for companionship on this time consuming web site?

-Music and the ability to create it myself on my piano.

-Number 6 is a tricky one. Sneaky little fella is eluding me at the moment!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
-Past/present/future events in my life. I analyze things a lot but I'm trying to just live life and enjoy.
-How am I going to meet someone special and move forward with that part of my life.
-If it's the right time or the appropriate situation to say what I'm thinking. Often, I'll just smile to myself because it's something funny that amuses me.
-Where I will be traveling next.
-Where I will be flying next!
-Whatever I can do in order to combine the previous 2.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Typical is probably a dinner for one and falling asleep on the couch while watching a show/movie. I prefer hanging out with friends or my brother, whether at home or a night out on the town but that happens more often on non-Friday's. That is if I'm not enjoying the city lights and the night sky from 1000' feet up whether it's flight training or taking someone for a ride.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I own a pair of wooden shoes. Why do I have them? Because I've outgrown my other pair!

I do the Salsa to just about any kind of music. It's my claim to fame at weddings. Is it because I'm an extraordinary dancer? No. Is it because it's the only dance I know that I can do adequately enough to make it fun? Yeah, it's probably more like that.

Any questions? No, the things I listed aren't really private. Yes, you can try on the wooden shoes. Well, I've done yard work in them and ridden with them on a bike in the New Belgium Tour de Fat. No, I wouldn't recommend Salsa dancing in them unless you are already in a hospital emergency room.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You want to meet for a chat/beer/wine/coffee/funny hat party. Let's meet at some point instead of exchanging online messages until the cows come home...the cows get rowdy when they get home. I have a mental image of the cows being somewhat inebriated when they get home, hence the rowdiness. Normally, they're not that least when they're sober.

I'm looking for something real and am not a one night stand kind of guy. Try me. I have a strong set of principles that I live by, I am successful, I am doing things I love to do, and I am a romantic just waiting for the right person to waltz into my life...or salsa, or simply stumble...have you been trying on my wooden shoes again?
