Books: Catch 22, The Wheel of Time series. I like
to read but, unfortunately, I don't make the time for leisure
reading at this point in my life. I actually do read quite a bit
but it's aviation stuff like FAA regulations (boring, right?) and
also the awesome fun stuff on flying, pilot skills, and weather;
Pilot Operating Handbooks are fun because that means I'm learning
how to fly a new plane!
I'd rather learn about you by talking to you but if you happen to
have written a book about yourself, it may be beneficial to have
the extra reference material. Just kidding! Or am I?
Movies: Amelie is one of my favorites. Braveheart,
The Aviator, Super Troopers, Dumb and Dumber, The Hangover, Lost in
Translation (if not only for the commentary on what it's like to
travel to a place that is totally foreign to you), etc. There are a
lot of good ones out there...
Shows: I get into a variety of TV shows when I
have time or just need some time to myself to unwind. Dexter, New
Girl, Grimm, the Walking Dead, etc. I could probably get into most
of them if I had time in my life to watch them...maybe one day when
I have someone to cuddle with...other than unwinding while having
dinner, I feel like I'm wasting time when I watch a show by myself.
Also, I got rid of cable years ago when I was traveling all the
time. Now I do the internet thing but still haven't justified
paying for anything.
As for a different kind of "show", I was able to catch "In the
Heights" on Broadway a year or two ago. I find all those
musical-type events always have some great humor in them and a fun
outlook on life. For some reason, I've always found plays and
musicals to be really amusing and entertaining. Maybe it's the
personal touch of having actors on stage...
I listen to almost all music. I love creating it. But, when it
comes to listening, I can't rule out a single genre and I'll listen
to everything from classical, blues, and jazz, to Latin, pop/rock,
and techno stuff. My least favorites are probably rap and country,
but even then, there are some good ones in there. Modern music is
mixing all the pop, techno, and rap anyway...I think mostly good
Food: Sushi! Of course I have to throw a good word
in there for Dutch food, which is kind of a strange collection of
foods, which I would be more than happy to share with you. But I
enjoy all kinds of food and love trying new things, especially
foreign foods. Odd side note, if you happen to be vegetarian, I
make some mean vegetarian/vegan fajitas! In fact, I've gotten
better at making quite a few vegetarian and/or vegan dishes.
