My friends would say that I am true to myself, supportive, grounded and have the sense of humor of a teenage boy. Seriously. I don't understand people who are offended easily. I mean how can you NOT find movies like Superbad, Role Models, and Gandhi funny? Okay, maybe not Gandhi....but you get the picture.
I moved from NYC to Nashville almost 6 years ago and love it. It has one, and only one, of everything I had in NY but with less stress and struggle. Plus, it has given me the job of my dreams. I help people start college-prep charter schools in the neediest areas of Nashville and Memphis. That said, I am a busy woman. I have a career, an 8 year-old son who is awesome, my own place, etc. What I don't have is "a date on national holidays" (Can you name the film this line came from?)
I am looking to meet people and have fun. Really. That's it. I promise.* My philosophy is that I don't go out with anyone that I can't see myself being friends with. I consider any chemistry to be bonus. This does not mean that I want a random hook-up. It means that you have to want to go OUT with me, if you want the chance to stay IN with me. So if you want to grab coffee or a movie - preferably a comedy, let me know.
One more thing, despite the "girls just want to have fun" thing I've got going, (I am now dating myself in more ways than one :-p) I do have a strong philosophical side. I enjoy serious intellectual conversations with people who don't take themselves too seriously. :-) I am also someone who is genuinely interested in people and their stories. So while I have been known to partake in more superficial interactions from time to time, I prefer spending time with someone who is interested in a genuine connection....as well as sophomoric humor.
*This is true unless you happen to be so awesome that you compel me to be more serious. But that's on you dude! Though even then, I am still more interested in companionship than partnership.
