I am dark-humored, generous, and inquisitive.

My Self-Summary

I'm married to cookingislife, and we're looking for some like-minded people to meet this year (see NOTE below). What's like-minded? Well...I find sports boring; I'm obsessed with music and movies; I generally think people should be able to do whatever the hell they wanna do, AS LONG AS nobody gets hurt; nothing is sacred when it comes to humor; homophobia is pathetic; I've got a moderate enjoyment of the outdoors; personal responsibility on Earth seems to be sadly dwindling; I feel bad for people who are afraid of looking silly (even though I'm occasionally one of them).

I can be kinda quiet around strangers, but if/when I get to the point where I feel like we "click," then I'm much more out of my shell. (And I actually prefer to be around people who I can share anything with. Not in a TMI way, but for instance, I don't wanna have to worry that you'll be offended by my fantasy of decapitating the screaming kid at the next table, or my observation that the sculpture at the street fair looks like something from Lover's Package.)

NOTE: Me & my wife recently bought our first house in Zillah, a teensy town near Yakima. However, we THEN moved back to the Everett area so she could finish her culinary degree, so we're gonna be in Puget Sound until Summer of 2010, and then it's back to Eastern Washington. Yay modern life!

What I’m doing with my life

Working as an office manager for my father-in-law takes up most of my weekdays. In my free time, I'm into arts & entertainment, games, etc. I'd love to do some serious traveling someday (I need to see Japan before I die), but right now I'm in that phase of saving for the future, paying off bills, etc.

I’m really good at

-Technical, left-brain stuff like math, spelling, details, organization, etc.
-Not being a morning person.
-Cranium.
-Aiming...but not throwing or catching. Go figure. Maybe I should become a sniper.
-Abstract thought.
-Metabolising whatever I eat at a really annoying speed. Go ahead, hate me for being thin, but then I get to hate you for not having to worry about turning into Oscar The Grouch when you've gone a long time without eating. You won't like Bruce Banner when he's angry, and you won't like me when I'm hungry. :)
-Making the perfect mixtape. (Actually, the perfect mixtape is an urban legend, but I refuse to give up hope...)
-Overusing parentheses and ellipses.

The first things people usually notice about me

You'd have to ask them.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Stephen King, especially The Dark Tower series; The Complete Calvin & Hobbes (yes, that counts as a book); musical nonfiction. I used to be a huge reader (my parents would tell me to put the book down and enjoy the scenery when traveling by car). But between my deepening interest in movies/music and a full-time job that has a pretty random schedule, I just don't have the same amount of time and interest, unless it's something I'm really interested in reading.

Movies: Out Of Sight, The Princess Bride, Jaws, Secretary, Rear Window, Night Of The Living Dead, Best In Show, Psycho, A Bug's Life, High Fidelity, Ghostbusters, Audition, The Godfather, Ratatouille, Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, Alien, Young Frankenstein, Die Hard, The Royal Tenenbaums, Fantasia, Indiana Jones, Vertigo, Sweeney Todd, and lots more (especially horror, sci-fi, and mind-f*ck movies)

TV: Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Fawlty Towers, House, The X-Files, Sex And The City, The Simpsons (back when it was worthwhile), Food Network

Music: U2, Garbage, Dave Matthews Band, Prince, The Cure, Madonna, R.E.M., Counting Crows, Tom Petty, Talking Heads, Neil Young, Oasis, Johnny Cash, and lots more (especially 80s/90s alt-pop/rock and 60s/70s R&B)

Food: I love food in general, but especially Chinese, Japanese, and Cajun. I'm not a huge fan of most Southeast Asian food. I've only had Moroccan food once, but it was really good. I love homemade meals, but there's never enough time! :( (But my wife's a great cook, especially when it comes to spontaneity and improv.) Overall, I much prefer non-chain restaurants. But the Orange Chicken at Panda Express is heavenly.

The six things I could never do without

My wife (awww), music, John Cleese, tempura, the smell of rain, and the internet.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Large-scale stuff: past/present/future, pop culture, history, politics, sociology, religion, etc. And then I stop thinking about it when I realize we're probably just gonna blow ourselves up anyway, and I focus on the fluffy kitty.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Well, it wouldn't be very private then, would it?

You should message me if

-You wanna talk to / hang out with someone who's into music, movies, games, books, concerts, restaurants/cooking, etc.
-You're lacking one of those annoying hipster attitudes.
-You can explain to me how the hell the golf game in Wii Sports is supposed to work.
