I am Cerebral, Witty, and Coy.

My Self-Summary

I'm a twenty-three year old recent college graduate, currently living in the Philadelphia area. I'm definitely the cerebral type, though I am artistic as well. I may come off as condescending sometimes, but I'm probably not trying to be (unless you've just said something really dumb, in which case, I am trying, and you deserve it). I have a dry sense of humor and I love to argue (in the conversational sense - not fighting, but rather debating).

I value intellect, maturity, and communication skills more than anything.

Before you IM me, observe that I don't do random hookups, I don't do threesomes, I don't date couples, and under no circumstances will I be willing to tie you up and/or do kinky stuff to you. Please, please, please don't bother asking. It isn't going to happen. Never, ever, ever.

What I’m doing with my life

I have a BA in Philosophy, with particular interest in metaphysics and philosophy of science. The job market for philosophers is a little tight right now, so I'm taking some time off to work in the real world before (hopefully) going to graduate school for my PhD.

I’m really good at

Being snarky and doing logic puzzles.
Reading, drawing, crocheting, sewing, making jewelry, and designing/making clothing. Historical costuming.
Yoga. I'm really stretchy.
Making gratuitously strong coffee.
Dancing to Guns 'n' Roses.
I play most string instruments at least fairly well.
I'm *awesome* at Scrabble.
I can hold my own in a debate as well as a bar fight.

The first things people usually notice about me

My size (I'm pretty short - just under 5'). My long, wavy, black hair. If they're paying attention, my vocabulary.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: regarding fiction, my favorites include everything by Fitzgerald, Hemingway, Dorothy Parker, and Margaret Atwood, though I do enjoy the occasional fluffy mystery novel as a guilty pleasure, in particular those by Charlaine Harris. Nonfiction is a bit more eclectic. Of course, my philosophy books - Putnam, Quine, Kuhn, etc.

Movies and TV: really depends on what sort of mood I'm in. I can probably recite most of Silence of the Lambs, The Big Lebowski, and The Royal Tennenbaums from memory. You can never go wrong with Wes Anderson or the Coen brothers. Old movies where all of the women wear gloves and hats. Anything with Bela Lugosi. Twilight Zone and I Love Lucy reruns. Horror movies from the 1980's where the special effects are all done with makeup and clay-mation.

Music: Classic rock and lots of current indie stuff, old blues, and some classical as well. It really depends on my mood, and there are way too many bands to name them all, but my favorites include (but are not limited to) Spoon, Built to Spill, Leonard Cohen, The Shins, The Dresden Dolls, Badly Drawn Boy, Elliott Smith, Cat Power, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Johnson, Buddy Guy, Howlin' Wolf, Guns 'n' Roses, Nouvelle Vague, Neil Young, CSNY, Creedence, etc.

Food: Cheeseburgers. Very rare lamb. Brussels sprouts. Pears. Chocolate. Good beer. Peking duck. Strawberry milkshakes. Broccoli. But, you know, everything in moderation.

The six things I could never do without

Books, coffee, my car, my day planner (yes, the old fashioned paper-in-a-binder kind), logic puzzles/crosswords, and my librarian glasses.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Entirely too much.

On a typical Friday night I am

Hanging out with friends, going out and getting tipsy on wine and dancing, or staying in to watch a movie or read.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I've got a really fantastic rack.
I also know quite a bit of Judo.

You are advised to take the former only in grave consideration of the latter.

I have sort of a nerd fetish. I find theoretical physics very sexy.

You should message me if

...if you look just like Jeff Goldblum.
Or, you know, if you're interested in getting to know me.
