My self-summary
I was born and raised in Kailua, Hawaii, made it this far for school, and haven't left. A couple close friends as roommates and a rent controlled apartment helps. Despite never thinking of myself as a car-guy, I've found myself designing batteries for electric vehicles, fired up to have a chance at changing transportation, behavior, and the world. There are plenty of reasons to love SF, but what makes it home for me is the density of good people and friends. I juggle that with regular trips inland to the Mountains to go light, go far, go fast, get lost, and stay active. I think this is a place where I can have it all...
I’m really good at
Teasing people, endearingly
Self deprecation
Organizing overly-ambitious outdoor trips
Finally cooking vegetarian food I really like to eat
Grinding through insanely long, hard tasks, while keeping things lighthearted and fun
Overly analyzing things, because learning is the best!
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyelashes. They're so long.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Eat and Run, God Delusion, The Road

Top Gun (unapologetically), Lebowski, and any other Cohen Bros.

I don't have cable but still got hooked on Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, The Wire, and South Park.

LCD Soundsystem, Girl Talk, Built to Spill, Modest Mouse, Neutral Milk Hotel, Mackelmore, Pretty Lights...stuff that gets me to focus or makes me nostagic

Hot Sauce, Avocados, Almond Butter, and just about any plants, really
The six things I could never do without
Long days outdoors traveling light and fast, on and off trail
Biking, Running, Backpacking and Skiing
But not watching sports
Almond Butter and Avocados
Friends that keep getting older but never grow up
I spend a lot of time thinking about
how to get down to South America to live and work for at least a year, so I can finally become fluent in Spanish. And how I like dense urban living, love living in the mountains, but find the suburbs pretty uncompelling.
On a typical Friday night I am
en route for the Mountains to backpack, run, climb, ski and explore, unless I'm out partying in the city. The two are a constant internal struggle, but I think they can coexist.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I really, really don't like olives or horseradish. Those are the only foods I don't like, but it's still very upsetting. I had an olive salsa the other day and it was so harsh.
