My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I am visiting Orange County for July.

I'm a nice guy. Geeky. Funny. Honest. Easy going. Educated. Employed.

Looking for same, or different.

I work as a librarian at the local college. I've been here about 7 years and just got tenure. Before that I lived in Orange County California for most of my life. I like living here, but I could move too. I'm not attached to this place. I'd rather find a person to be attached to.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
When I turned 40, I decided I want a family. I never thought I did, but now I do. So that's what I'm doing here on OKCupid, looking for a partner for that plan.

I took two semesters of Japanese. こにちわ! 日本語でわたしに書く。
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
My sister just introduced me to the game 2048 a few weeks ago and I've already won twice!

It used to be my beard, but I shaved it. Now I'm experimenting with sideburns. :)

I'm actually on a diet right now. My diet is, I don't eat dinner, just breakfast and lunch. It's working so far. I've lost about 40 lbs in the last year.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Coffee. Cheese. Tivo. Internet. Podcasts. My Android phone.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Politics. I'm very political, usually left-wing, but not reflexively. One of the things I like about living in Colorado is that it is a swing state. I feel like my political activity might actually be making a difference.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
At home. I'm pretty much a homebody. I'll go out, if there's something good going on, but I don't like to go out alone. I'm looking for someone to go out with.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I don't like watching sports. I never understood why so many people enjoyed watching sports. Until I recently heard someone explain why they enjoyed sports, and it was the first explanation that made sense to me. He said, "I arbitrarily choose to emotionally invest in the stories." At least that makes sense to me. I don't choose to invest in the stories of sports, but it's not any less rational that choosing to invest in the story of The Walking Dead or The Lord of the Rings.
