I am collimated, nerdy, and facetious.
My Self-Summary
I'm a
Pastafarian and a student. I really
like
wine and
cheese. I like to
play with
cats,
lasers, and alkali
lasing systems.
I'm a huge science nerd; I love physics and mathematics like it's
my job (and at the moment, it is). I also do some singing, but just
for fun.
Around friends, I can get quite facetious and sardonic. Sometimes I
make (rather awkward) jokes about mothers. I like to think that
it's part of my charm. Though, there are times when, I suppose,
making a "your mother" joke is inappropriate.
What I’m doing with my life
I study
physics
and
mathematics. I'm an a first-year
graduate student. I also like to teach, tutor, sing, and learn
languages, not that I ever get very far with the languages. I get
distracted easily.
At the moment, a good portion of my time is spent riding my bike,
doing homework, and trying to make friends.
I’m really good at
I like to think that I'm really good at physics, mathematics and
listening to people, but who am I to judge? Some people tell me
that I give good massages.
I'm good at not making decisions.
The first things people usually notice about me
Something like my red hair, or a weird shirt that I'm wearing.
Maybe they notice they just think I'm awkward (I'm a scientist
after all). I think usually, either I'm pretty quiet and blending
into the crowd, or I'm saying something stupid that I will later be
embarrassed about.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books:
Books on Knot Theory, Quantum Optics, Quantum Computing, and
Laser-cooling. I also like Terry Pratchett, Madeline L'Engel, Kurt
Vonnegut, Billy Bryson, and Bradley Trevor Grieve.
Movies:
Amelie, Willow, The Princess Bride, Donnie Darko... I'm pretty easy
to please when it comes to movies.
Music: There's lots. I tend to get obsessed with a particular song
or album for an extended period of time.
Food:
Almost anything. I don't like fish unless it's properly cooked (I
despise sushi). I really like cheese and peanut butter... and
apples. Now that I have a kitchen, I'm starting to get into cooking
more (instead of just eating bread from the bag, dipping it in
hummus).
The six things I could never do without
music,
the electromagnetic force,
cats,
liberal people (my friends and family),
science,
nature
I spend a lot of time thinking about
what I should be doing rather than actually doing it. I spend a lot
of time thinking about where I want to go next and what I should
do. Sometimes I waste a lot of time on what other people would
consider little decisions (like what kind of beer to buy... but
hey, that's the kind of decision that may affect the rest of my
week).
On a typical Friday night I am
I like movies, concerts, playing a mean game of cards, solving the
three dimensional harmonic oscillator, you know, the usual.
Lately, I've been using Friday night to recover from a hellish week
of homework. Damn you, grad school!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I stopped eating ice cream after a traumatic incident in second
grade (it was emotionally traumatic... by a small child's
standards). I can eat it now, though.
You should message me if
Message me if you're interested in finding an odd friend, a date,
(or if you need help with your math or physics homework. I mean,
really... I love helping), or whatever. I'm new to the area, and it
would be nice to meet some cool people.
