My self-summary
I believe we experience by stepping into the unfamiliar.

I believe we grow through community and self-reflection.

I believe everyone deserves to experience growth.

I believe in the human connection.
What I’m doing with my life
Finishing up grad school, working with start-ups, expanding my cooking knowledge, dancing in random places, drinking red wine, brewing tea. That works for now.
I’m really good at
Jumping rope and eating apples.
The first things people usually notice about me
My name is unique. I was named after my great great great grandfather so that I may too have his adventurous spirit and hard work ethic. He immigrated from Germany and trekked half was across the country to settle in the plains of Kansas. So what is my name? Ask me and I may tell.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love me some Vonnegut, Wallace, Franzen and Kerouac.

Misic is grand in all forms. Just got back from London and am in love with Frankie Teardrop. Check them out:

Food that is high quality requires minimal perpetration.
The six things I could never do without
1. Stimulating conversation: Politics and religion are often considered faux pas, but they make for such an interesting discussion when the participants are objective.

2. 35mm Vintage SLRs: I purchased an old Pentax and Olympus two three years ago off of Craigslist for $35 dollars. Probably the best purchase I ever made. A recent upgrade has me shooting with an Olympus OM4. Such a beautiful piece of precision. Check out some of my photos @

3. A map for Saturday: Not the documentary (although I am a big fan), rather avoiding complacency.

4. Time for daily meditation: I need time to reflect on everything that is happening around me.

5. Something to read: Some sort of literature is essential.

6. Valued relationships: I am an independent person, but life is incomplete without deep meaningful relationships.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What dirt is made of, traveling, poverty, laying in a hammock, hiking
On a typical Friday night I am
Varies a lot, but I try to avoid just sitting at a bar.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I recently discovered that a blow dryer is a great invention.

... you agree with the following:

"Any life expands and flowers only through division and contradiction. What are reason and sobriety without the knowledge of intoxication? What is sensuality without death standing behind it? What is love without the eternal mortal enmity of the sexes?"

-Narcissus and Goldmund, Hermann Hesse
