My Self-Summary
artistic, strange, quirky, sarcastic, intelligent, and incredibly interesting with the inevitable bouts of being quite boring. Craves adventure and is willing to help make it happen. I can be a bit on the shy side until I am out of my bubble or around people I am comfortable with. I wouldn't, however, consider myself a quiet person. Just awkward.
I'm a dedicated sculpture student, but I love to get out and meet new people. As one might deduce I love art related things, I love going to concerts (doesn't happen enough), things involving the outdoors, good conversations in coffee shops, some activist work, and I'm always up for something new and interesting.
Music is really important to me. I'm not as into it as I used to be, but I would say great lyrics by great people have definitely shaped (and continue to shape) my philosophies. If you can carry a good conversation about music, art, or both, you have my attention. My sense of skepticism and irony makes it hard to appreciate a lot of things, but I will admit the sincerity of my belief in music and art to change and shape. I'm not as big a snob as I used to be. I'm simultaneously picky and love everything.
Note: I would really love someone to go to some local live shows with. I haven't been to one in ages and I don't have many friends that are up for most of the genre's of music I listen to.
What I’m doing with my life
That's been my number one focus, but I do have other interests as well. Generally jumping from one obsession to another, generally soaking up artists (of all persuasions). I guess I am a helpless consumer in that regard.
Longterm, you will find me in a gallery, working long days to bring art to the masses (whether they want it or not), teaching, working in a studio, doing whatever I can. I would love to network internationally. I think cross cultural awareness is important and have been struck with wanderlust.
I’m really good at
One of those "jack of all trades, master of nothing" I have a few tricks up my sleeve and a eclectic mix of knowledge and talent, but not much I would claim expertise on.
The first things people usually notice about me
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I have a pretty extensive library of books, but they tend to be either books on various artists, technique, or random subjects that catch my interest. I've found my reading as of late has been more research than anything.
Movies: Quentin Tarantino movies, Kevin Smith movies, Boondock Saints, Hedwig and the Angry Inch (John Cameron Mitchell is brilliant)... many others, but those are the ones I've watched religously that I can recall.
Music : Rx Bandits, Streetlight Manifesto, Billy Talent, Screeching Weasel (And all their offshoots), Descendants, the Queers, Catch 22, the Aquabats, Bad Religion, Foo Fighters, Of Montreal, MUSE, Cake, Radiohead, Defiance Ohio, Pain, The Lawrence Arms, Muse, Bomb the Music Industry, O Pioneers!!!, Bjork, Sigur Ros, Radiohead, Shiny Toy Guns, Animal Collective, so so much more..
Never enough space to list or brain capacity to remember. But you'll notice a trend of punk, indie, techno, foreign, and weird crap you generally won't find on the radio (I'm no elitist and don't care if my bands "sell out" and make it there).
I think my favorite thing to listen to right now are unexpected combinations of different styles and bands that reinterpret/reinvent themselves. Hence the Defiance Ohio (folk punk), Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution (acoustic ska), Even in Blackouts (acoustic punk), and interest in solo projects. Wishing I was in a far off place and an appreciation for various cultures explains the foreign stuff.
Food: Vegetarian. Thai and Greek are my favorite, but I enjoy most styles. Coffee will always be my soulmate.
