I grew up in many different areas of the country, but the Northeast is one of my favorite places to live. I love the fall and winter: orange leaves, snow and skiing, eating delicious home-cooked meals with football on TV. I was a rower in college, so athletic competition is a necessity and I like to compete in marathons and triathlons to stay in shape. I try to make the most of my time outside work . . . which hopefully means going on an adventure and enjoying the outdoors with friends.

I am in the midst of residency for emergency medicine . . . after that, who knows? I want to go on an adventure, maybe move somewhere interesting and off the beaten path. I like disaster relief and working out in the field. I also want to compete in an ironman someday, have my own vegetable garden, and learn how to fly fish.

laughing at myself. endurance competitions. eating my vegetables. making lists. starting crossword puzzles. cooking.

Usually my smile. Unless I am wearing my gorilla costume, in which case they usually notice that first.

Books - my favorite books of all time are The Iliad and The Odyssey. I am embarrassed to admit I am sucker for fantasy novels: Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Name of the Wind. Noun preposition Noun.

Movies - anything goes, but if you don't think the Big Lebowski is funny then we probably won't be friends.

Music - wide variety. Sinatra, Johnny Cash, Josh Ritter, Ryan Adams, Tom Waits, Daft Punk, Of Monsters and Men, Beirut, Joe Purdy, Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen, the list is endless . . .

Food - I try to eat healthy, local, organic, etc etc

Aside from the obvious (family and friends): running shoes, football on sunday afternoon, quiet early mornings, coffee, the occasional escape to the mountains, the turn of the seasons.

If I am not working, I am either getting drinks or dinner with friends, or enjoying a relaxing night at home after a long work week.
