Oh, and I just love music and mushrooms
What I’m doing with my life
I've decided to take this opportunity to get away from the professional computer scene in favor of an academic life. I'm currently attending USF to complete my long postponed degree. I'm studying cognitive science and neurology with the vague goal of becoming a research scientist in the field of cybernetics and robotics in the future.
I’m really good at
The first things people usually notice about me
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Sociology, anthropology, International politics (And satire thereof)
Hard sci-fi: Clarke, Asimov, (early) Michael Crichton, Greg Bear, Ben Bova, Steven Baxter. I only have to look at the first shelf in the Sci-Fi section, nyah.
Hard sci: cutting edge sci-tech stuff, particle/quantum/Superstring/M physics, mathematics, Cybernetics, Information Theory, Complexity, Emergency, AI, Carl Sagan, Kurzweil, Moravec, Brian Greene's Elegant Universe, and The Fabric of the Cosmos, Hawkins
Weird and/or subtle/and or complex films: and TV: Lynch, Carpenter, Kubrick, Craven, Gilliam, Cronenburg, Lost, Cube (and both sequels!), Lost, The Cell, Buckaroo Banzai, Ravenous, Requiem for a Dream, The Game, Lemony Snicket's..., What Dreams May Come++, V for Vendetta++, V, XistenZ(?), The Thirteenth Floor, The City of Lost Children, Brazil, Memento, Sin City, Spaceballs, Ghostbusters, Lost in Translation, Being John Malkovich, Heavy Metal, Metropolis
Good Anime: FLCL++, Mindgame++ (find it!), Miazaki (Spirited Away++), Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, Akira, Evangelion if I actually sat down and watched it (or so they say), a few more that I was probably way out of my gourd when I saw them, Most AMV's, Metropolis
Classic and Progressive rock: Yes, Rush, Queensryche, Pink Floyd, Dream Theatre (Metropolis Trifecta!!!)
Electronica: Orbital, Crystal Method, The Orb, Autechre, Squarepusher, The Propellerheads; I feel old now...
Cuisine: European, American, Sushi, Thai, Indian, Peruvian, Cuban; so far, The only ones I don't care for are Hawaiian and Ethiopian. Too squishy for me I think.
The six things I could never do without
Bad People, to keep my fist clenched when it must be
Deviants, miscreants, and ne'er-do-wells, to titillate and tempt
Knowledge to peruse and pursue
Hope for the future
Sanctuary, from all of the above
I spend a lot of time thinking about
On a typical Friday night I am
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I feel ashamed when I think ill of others, immediately or eventually.
You should message me if
...you're looking for likeminded friends nearby or at USF
...you're on the lookout for a romantic interest, and something here caught your eye.
Or if you just want to talk about crazy future robots, that'd be keen too.
