My self-summary
Hi, I'm K! I'm kinda new to this whole online thing, but I moved out of the city (Atlanta) for graduate/medical school (but I visit when I can) and a friend mentioned this as a nice way of meeting people; and I'm always up for meeting new and interesting individuals. While this section does feel slightly like writing a personal statement letter, it can't be too different from social networking/social media sites, right? Alright, well, let's give it a go!

Who am I?
I'm just a lil bit of random, fun, smart and amazing all balled up into this smile you see here.
Seriously though, I am driven about my goals, career and my passions; and they are consistent with who I am and my purpose. But I'm not all work 24/7, I enjoy good company with great conversations, good food, drink and music (def. on the good music); learning new things;meeting new people; connecting with friends and exploring new places (love finding an awesome hole-in-the wall spot!). As with most anything in life, fun, is what you make of it. I'm a go-with-the-flow kind of gal, but I'm out-going and can take charge when needed. I lean toward being optimistic and I tend to smile and laugh a lot.

I appreciate a sense of humor, bright wit and intelligence. You could call me a sapiosexual...ooh, she said what?! Exactly. And on that note, I have my nerdette moments- I enjoy reading, watching documentaries, going to museums, watching the news and participating in discussions. I am passionate about social justice issues and their intersections with public health/medicine and policy.

What I'm looking for:
Someone who is professional and driven, but grounded, flexible and realistic. Willing to build a strong friendship first. Has a passion for life, comfortably enjoys social settings, but can appreciate more quiet, one-on-one moments. Qualities: compassionate, altruistic, genuine, honest, trustworthy, intelligent, very well-educated, fun, humorous, assertive and loyal.

In a relationship they can:
Be team player with me. Be supportive and affectionate. Be both my best friend and an active partner in the relationship; eager to discover the world and enthusiastically investigate future possibilities as we build something great together.

I'm fair in what I'm seeking in a relationship: it may seem like alot, but these are the attributes I'll provide as a friend and partner in a potential relationship; qualities to be reciprocated- it's that simple, no biased double standard. Just fair compatibility. We both have to bring our all & our best to the table.

Random Rundown of "K" facts:
I have a sweet tooth. I love to laugh, so comedies get instant play. I'm a Punjabi hybrid. I would love to travel more. I'm in no hurry to have kids, but I do want them someday. I enjoy cultural events, the arts and diversity. I'm a Virgo with definite Libra tendencies. I like eclectic music and solid choreography. I can get down with some ethnic food. I'm a Southern girl at heart with an Indian twist and can make a mean apple pie with a hot cup of chai. My sorority line-name is One in a Million. I guess it's up to you to figure out why...
What I’m doing with my life
I just ended an Atlanta-based internship for the nation's largest health non-profit at their national headquarters. Presently, I *just* graduated from a private medical school and their department of community medicine with a MPH, serve as an intern for a primary care medical clinic and I assist in/conduct research in the public health/community medicine field, as needed. I am planning to continue on in my education and incorporate public health/health promotion-disease prevention and health policy with general medicine in my future work.
On the side, I serve as a consulting advisor to a women's service organization; conduct health promotion in the community and online; volunteer as much as I can and I'm the social media specialist on a documentary film team for my friend's film production company.
I’m really good at
listening to amazing music, reading/being informed of/ blogging about current events & social justice issues, randomly conversing with others, laughing, dreaming, being involved in different activities and causes, eating yummy food, being a good-interesting kind of random, but most of all just being myself.
The first things people usually notice about me
Aside from appearance, most people notice my smile and my interactive presence- I've been told by others that my friendliness, intelligence and wit/sense of humor are initial stand-outs.
I am genuine and consistent in who I am and it just shines through. I am dorky, nerdy, funny, caring, random, and fun. And I like that and I think you will too.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My list is far too long, but for sake of getting the gist of it:

Books: mystery/thriller, few mythological/fantasy, books with historical, cultural and/or scientific background.

Movies: Comedies, action, documentaries

Shows: This when I get the chance to watch TV- News/newsmagazine, comedies/sitcoms/ animated shows, drama, mythological/fantasy-ish, guilty pleasure: the random reality show (I'm trying to start/catch up on The Wire, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Community and Parks & Rec, but grad. school has other plans, so its been a game of TV Tag...SN: Totally Biased is my new jam.) TEDTalks/ TEDEducation videos/animations.

Music: R&B, neosoul/jazz,hip-hop, indie, pop, alternative/some rock, electronic/house/some techno/little dub-step(very selective on that).

Food: Have faves from each ethnic cuisine- Latin, Asian-South Asian, Middle Eastern/Mediterranean, UK/ European, East and West African, Caribbean, etc. and of course good ole American.
The six things I could never do without
Hmmm, besides the obvious necessities of shelter, clothing, food, water and my comfy bed....
1. My team: family and close friends
2. Informative blogs/magazines/books: I'm a voracious reader. I enjoy learning new things and becoming more informed about the world around me.
3. Music. It sets the tone for anything/everything: it's therapeutic, it's hype, it's cultural. I appreciate an eclectic playlist.
4. Community involvement/engagement: I am involved in various organizations professionally, academically, socially, and as a volunteer. I am active in the communities around me.
5. Laughter: I love to laugh and smile. A good, hearty laugh is truly the best medicine. It makes things so much better ( at least for that moment) and can help put things into perspective.
6. Internet: email, course work/research, social media,Hulu, Google.. ::HOV voice"..It's so necessary.." ::
I spend a lot of time thinking about
very random things honestly, I tend to be a daydreamer at times... and..the awesome possibilities that lay ahead of me and what I can do through public health and medicine in my career path to best help individuals, families and communities.

On a typical Friday night I am
doing whatever, depending on the kind of week I've had: either catching up with friends with a dinner out, game night, a party or something fun and random ; or I may be at home catching up on my favorite TV shows or a few articles I've been wanting to read; or working on a personal project and jamming to some newly discovered tunes; or well, often being a grad student- catching up on work as needed.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm an ardent fan of Childish Gambino/Donald Glover and a moderate fan of the Sexy Stylings Trifecta better known as Miguel, Frank Ocean and The Weeknd (sometimes Bruno Mars rotates on the 3rd of the list); and I think 90s music, TV/cartoons were/are the ish. I'm so glad that the 90's are making a come-back!

  • Straight guys only
  • Ages 27–32
  • Located anywhere
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating
You should message me if

Bonus: Why is my sorority line-name One in a Million?

Let's talk and get to know each other-- I know some of these questions can't really grasp one's full personality nor are they a 100% accurate assessment of one's personality.
