My self-summary
East coast born and raised. The state motto where I grew up is "Live free or die." A kudos for who can name the state (no cheating). Growing up, it was the wrong place for me. Whether it was the weather or the people, there was always something that made me feel incomplete. So, to Lake Tahoe I went, and fell in love with California instantly. The next five years were spent at a seasonal job in which I worked for the spring and fall seasons and traveled for the rest of the year. I have lived in Peru and Guatemala and traveled across country numerous times following many different routes using planes, trains and automobiles. I occasionally stopped in places like Austin, South Carolina, Sequoia National Park and the northwest. The northwest must be magical and I have an unfulfilled fantasy of moving to New Orleans. Traveling became the language of my life for awhile. Less is more, minimalism is key to a peaceful life. I have very few possessions and tend to only possess what is useful.
What I’m doing with my life
I am currently a kindergarten teacher for an after school program in San Francisco and love it! I get a sneak peek of a fraction of the human race that's just starting out. There are few things better than daily facing little humans whose honesty and feelings are at their purist.

I also just started a paralegal program at San Francisco State. After attaining an English degree and then being a waitress for many years, I pursued teaching (and still am), but have realized that law might be a better field for me. I am currently doing an internship at an organization serving the elderly and disabled. I have learned that 5 and 85-year-olds tend to need the same kind of patience and guidance. I believe that these experiences are making me a better, participating member of society.

Working on building and sustaining a life in the bay area. It's the first place I have never wanted to leave and am loving every moment of it!
I’m really good at
Sustainable living. Almost always having high quality bacon on hand. Knowing how to use apostrophes. How to approach and love animals, both strange and known. Listening.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
These tend to vary, but here are a few consistent staples:

Catcher in the Rye and Grapes of Wrath
Casablanca and The Princess Bride
The Simpsons and so many others
Elvis Costello, The Decemberists....

I believe that the preferences in art are an ever-changing adventure. I have listed my standards that I view as timeless, but I can't even begin to list the other creations that have spoken to me throughout my life. I don't think that anyone should ever be judged for their artistic preferences, mainly because, if we truly love them, they're rarely understandable. I always enjoy being exposed and guided as much as discovering on my own. I'm having a difficult time with music at the moment, so bring it on, please!

As for food. I like it whole and rich, that begins with clear sources and that ends up in an amalgamation of wholesome, tasty goodness.
