I like making the most of any situation. Eating salad for breakfast. Shopping at Whole Foods like I've never been there before. Putting on dapper clothes during the week and growing my start-up. Getting excited for a themed-party and going all-out. Being outdoors. Believing I'm good at navigating in a foreign country or someplace I've never been. Throwing dinner parties. Listening to friends and telling them what not to do from personal experience. Confiscating the dance floor.
My California roots help me dream big as if I'm in my own 80s movie. I'm gradually trading in swagger for meditation, patience, gratitude and making my life amazing.
What I’m doing with my life
When I was 5 in 1st grade and saw a grainy computer screen make a 2" colored line I thought, "Wow! That's so cool!" Now I'm a high-tech professional passionate about start-ups. I'm in the best playground in the world and build products and companies that hopefully make peoples lives better and help them waste time.
I love riding my bike all over especially in the summer.
I travel a lot for work and fun -- I'll go to Paris or Patagonia, and am always up for a snowboarding trip, weekend getaway, biking to Tilden, walking from point A to B...
I’m really good at
Getting vertigo at the top of double-black diamond snowboarding
runs and freaking out. Making cookies. Making crow noises.
Chatting. Being functional. Getting option paralysis. Saying yes.
Embodying an all-time favorite character and channeling what they
would do in the present situation.
The first things people usually notice about me
Positive and healthy energy.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Now reading The Soul Whence and Whither by Hazrat Inayat Khan, Inferno by Max Hastings, and the Economist magazine. My all time favs are High Fidelity, Generation X, The Brothers K, Das Kapital, Their Eyes Were Watching God, Huck Finn, Neuromancer, Ham on Rye, The Fountainhead, and tons more...
Mad Max blew me away, and Metal Head was amazing. I typically will go see any indy flick over hollywood. All time favorites are Le Femme Nikita (French Version), My Own Private Idaho, Blade Runner, Superbad, Napolean Dynamite, Just Friends, The Lives of Others...lots more...love movies!
How awesome is Spotify? Right now am into Cut Copy, Grimes, Animal Collective, Of Montreal, Discovery, The Fruitbats, Santigold, LCD Soundsystem, Arcade Fire, Crystal Castles. Plus the classics Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Pixies, Morrissey (love seeing Moz in convert), Alt 80s, Joy Division, Erasure, New Order, NWA, Too Short, gansta rap, watching alt 80s videos on YouTube, Husker Du, 80s punk, Jesus Jones....Huge electronica fan, breakbeats & house music all night long
Game of Thrones is thrilling and does a great justice to the books. True Detective, OMG! Girls is hilarious. Breaking Bad was stunning.
I love trying new restaurants and most foods, and am growing into a foodie. I experiment cooking on my friends with dinner parties where I try creating something I've never cooked, and enjoy the transformation from utter panic because of seemingly imminent disaster to it all turning out just fine.
The six things I could never do without
Laughing and seeing things from another perspective.
Friends, hanging out with them and making new ones.
Snacks. Love eating. Gotta have snack confidence!
Outdoors, being outside, going someplace to enjoy the
iPhone. It's like alien technology.
Burning Man. I can talk about this for a long time but am no longer
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What am I doing and why?
On a typical Friday night I am
I mix it up...dinner with friends...going out...movies...and sometimes just hanging out at home tooling around with phone, tv, the economist and a plate of cookies.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I can't believe all the things I've done in my life and I'm living the life I am in NYC.
I love going dancing Saturday nights to alt-80s at the Pyramid.
You should message me if
If the idea of going to a Broadway show, Bushwick loft party, hike in Maine, dance party and gala fundraiser all seem like they could be fun, and you enjoy walking in the city, and spending hours at a time on a couch connecting, going to the hottest restaurants and also hole in the wall taco spots, and like giving each other kind advice and encouragement about careers, life and love, I might be your guy, especially if you are super smart, as brains I adore. If partying like a rockstar is your thing, god bless, but I am not your guy. Bonus points if you enjoy biking in the summer, dinner parties, traveling and being outdoors.
