I read a lot, am an avid knitter, am interested in lots of things (think everything from urban planning, to zoology (biospeleology FTW!), to the sociology of gender, to the history of railroads in North America, and am probably best superficially described as an adorable intellectual who owns a lot of items with representations of skulls on them. Not necessarily human skulls.
I currently am on track to work as a therapist in a few years. The plan is that this job will A) help people, and B) not get boring. Hopefully in that order. I'm approaching the work from a feminist, humanist perspective.
My favorite people are openly and unashamedly unique... also, my pet peeves are narrow-mindedness and excessive cussing.
I am eccentric, nice, and a bookworm.
What I’m doing with my life
Soaking up information like a sponge. Yet always forgetting where I
left my phone.
Seriously, it keeps disappearing.
I’m really good at
Writing. Imagining. Being diplomatic. Reasoning with people. Arts and crafts. Talking things up. Making my characters real. Explaining things to people. The kind of ability to follow instructions and sit still for two straight hours that makes a person a good candidate for a college education. Sticking to my philosophy of pretending there's no such thing as a stupid question. Child care, apparently.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm usually oddly dressed and often have my nose in a book. I laugh
a lot. And I'm pretty non-threatening-looking.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My three favorite book series are written by, respectively:
Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child
M. Alice LeGrow
I also adore Neil Gaiman's work, and am waaaaay into the podcast Welcome to Night Vale.
Favorite TV shows are probably the original Twilight Zone, Sherlock, Archer, Young Justice, and The US of Tara. I will also nerd out over Doctor Who and Star Trek (Voyager's the best!).
This is an extremely partial list, but there you go.
Hands down, my favorite band is White Lies. I just love them. So much. Second favorite is the Editors for being a sorta less good version of White Lies.
The six things I could never do without
Physical things? I'm going to pretend this means physical things,
not counting other people and stuff like water/fire/weather
Books, WWW access, museums, writing implements, music players,
aaaaand... I dunno. That's all I can think of right now besides
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Complex daydreams occupy most of my thinking time. I have loads of storylines in a bunch of different universes (from TV/movies/books), and tons more characters. Other than that... brainstorming for art projects, figuring how to manage my to-do list, and contemplating how things work.
I am also currently building a career in a social science field that requires lots of reading and writing and thoughts.
On a typical Friday night I am
Reading recreationally, hanging out with friends, volunteering, watching TV, eating while doing one of those things, homework, surfing the web, working on an art project, or pacing while [daydreaming/singing].
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm listed as "Seeing Someone" even though I'm not, only because I get way way way more creepy pointless messages when I'm listed as single. I'm banking on the assumption that people who read entire profiles are more likely to be polite and respectful of this fact.
You should message me if
...you love meeting talkative new people who are fascinated by the world!
If you're looking for new friends, penpals, or a sympathetic ear, I am happy to chat. ^-^ Just please don't send me messages that say:
"Hello! [end of message]"
...ambiguous, pre-typed novellas that are used as standardized greetings. ;p
But besides that, I am a very thoughtful person, and if you are also a thoughtful person, message me and we can be thoughtful together. :D
