My Self-Summary
My self-summary, hmmm... well, I'm 23, graduated college in '08. I
grew up in Upstate NY, and currently live in Washington, DC. Some
things that make me happy are being outdoors, hiking, skiing, dancing, movies with friends, travel, especially international,
trying new
things, exploring new places,
different sorts of liberal activism, politics, the arts, live music/concerts, and good conversation.
What I’m doing with my life
Yikes. Currently I'm between jobs (my new job, developing nutrition
curriculum and teaching it to kiddies) starts in February. For the
time being, I'm doing a couple different volunteer gigs (an after school
program, a dance studio, some political stuff...), and applying to
grad school. I hope to be going for my MSW in Fall 2010.
I’m really good at
telling
stories, and finding really absurd situations to tell stories
about. I'm generally good at making people laugh, and definitely
good at laughing
:). I'm also a pretty good artist (mostly drawing, some painting)
though I don't make as much art as I used to. I'm also really good at
exploring new
places and being up for adventures.
The first things people usually notice about me
Hmm. I can't say. Sometimes I can be a bit shy at first, so it's
hard to say.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I really like young adult and children's lit. Harry Potter, The Hunger Games,
His Dark
Materials, that sort of thing. I also really love Danny
Wallace's books, like Join Me. Mostly, I just like a good
story.
My favorite movies are Star Wars, I Heart Huckabee's, and High School Musical. Clearly I'm okay with being judged! :P;)
My favorite band is the Barenaked Ladies. I really enjoy a lot of music, but no one else comes close. Carbon Leaf runs a distance second. :)

The six things I could never do without
(1) My family, (2) my friends, (3) outdoor adventures, (4) a phone
(for calling 1 & 2), (5) something to write with (computer,
pen, paper, whatever), and (6) a good pair of Tevas
I spend a lot of time thinking about
things that are funny when everyone else is being serious. Things
like the environment, injustice, oppression and violence that have
to be taken seriously. Lately, I think a lot about getting into
grad school. I think about how my friends & family are doing
today, and when might be a good time to call. Finally, I think
about travel a lot - when I'll get the next opportunity and where I
want to go.
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually out with a friend or two. Usually it's something chill,
like dinner and a movie, or hanging out at a coffee house.
Occasionally, I like to go to a concert or out dancing. :)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
It's an automatic turn-off to me if people (a) can't make jokes,
and (b) don't laugh at my jokes. Humor is beyond important!
