I am enthusiastic, lazy, and contradictory.
My Self-Summary
I'm married and polyamorous, which means we openly date other
people. I'm bisexual (and a bisexual activist). I'm a parent and
work as part-time project officer in the public sector, but I'm
also an aspiring writer when I have time/energy/ideas. I haven't
decided yet what I'm doing on OKCupid, but probably just looking
for interesting people in general. And apparently I start all my
sentences with 'I' - sorry.
Things that are good: spending hours having interesting
conversations; having food cooked for me; watching films with
people; exploring London; exploring outside London; dancing.
I love living in London, but I grew up in Cornwall and need fairly
regular trips to the countryside/seaside in order to feel properly
grounded.
You know what I'd really like to do with OKCupid? Meet a few cool
people and arrange a group drink in London sometime. Get in touch
if you fancy the idea. Much less stressful than one-on-one drinks!
What I’m doing with my life
Organising bi events, holding parties, trying to write, bringing up
my daughter.
I’m really good at
Organising parties, or so people tell me - planning things
generally. Editing. Introducing people to each other. I'm quite a
good listener, less good at talking till I know people. I'm good at
being enthusiastic but sometimes bad at following through.
I'm great at finding interestingly insane websites. It's not much
of a skill, but it amuses my friends.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm short and curvy, friendly in a shy kind of way, often wearing
bright colours (and often not, but it's something people tend to
associate with me). I talk too fast when I'm nervous or excited.
People have used the term 'bouncy', but that's only true some of
the time.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books/authors: Salman Rushdie, DH Lawrence, Scott Fitzgerald,
Angela Carter, Kingsley Amis, Evelyn Waugh, Agatha Christie,
Dorothy L Sayers, Robertson Davies, Jane Austen, Joe Orton, Isabel
Allende. Lots more.
Movies: mainly musicals, especially 1930s b&w musicals. Also
like Tarantino and David Lynch. I made a Top 50 list the other day
but it's a bit long to post here. I watch a lot of films but I tend
to watch some of the same ones over and over. Most recent cinema
trip was to see Inglourious Basterds, which I loved.
Music: Leonard Cohen, early David Bowie (bit of a lifelong
obsession), Hayseed Dixie, Violent Femmes, Barnaked Ladies, Tori
Amos, Eurythmics, Pet Shop Boys, Eminem, the Supremes, Peter, Paul
and Mary, Bob Dylan. Also some very easy listening stuff that
probably falls into the 'embarrassing' category.
Food: potatoes and eggs in almost all their forms. Steak.
Chocolate, cake, crisps. Royal Gala apples, most fruit. Milk.
Halloumi, couscous, egg fried rice, lemon chicken, duck pancakes,
God I'm hungry now.
The six things I could never do without
Books, chocolate, the internet, physical contact, warmth, musicals.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Parties I'm going to organise, the future in general, books I want
to write, my friends' lives, atheism, food, my daughter, strange
mad websites, musicals.
On a typical Friday night I am
In the pub, at the theatre/cinema, round someone's house, or at
home on the internet/watching a DVD with S.
You should message me if
you want to. I don't know yet how likely I am to reply as I've only
just joined - I suspect I'm more likely to reply to women, but I'm
open to starting a conversation with anyone interesting. Always
keen to meet more bisexual or bi-friendly Londoners. Not a huge fan
of textspeak.
