I am velveteen, a tumbleweed, and drinking tea.

My Self-Summary

"It’s no good pretending that any relationship has a future if your record collections disagree violently or if your favorite films wouldn’t even speak to each other if they met at a party."

I concur. Which is why my movies, music, books&food section might be of a bit more importance.

Aside from those interests I: am tall, enjoy (and kick a heap of ass in) a game of Loopin' Louie, collect fortune cookie insterts & postcards, make my bed in a rather unconventional manner, require lots of time to my thoughts, carry a journal, book and camera at all times, currently work as an au pair, am attracted (in a monsterous way) to intelligence, spend a considerable amount of time in a cafe called "muffins".

What I’m doing with my life

"I've been thinking about my life, and I am loving it, and if I take care of it, will it love me? Will it love me back?" -TheTeeth

Most of the time, I'm documenting it. www.flickr.com/photos/kcarpenter

I’m really good at

Buying birthday/Christmas gifts.
Reading menus.
Powerpoint.
Musical Chairs.
Sounding vaguely British.
Choosing.
Falling asleep.
Writing nice letters.

expressing myself via a wide array of interesting sounds and nonsense words, including (but not limited to) "puh!" and "mahmahmah."

The first things people usually notice about me

Either the bubble I am blowing, or the tangerine I'm peeling.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Music: Some old stuff, some new stuff. Rock, folk & electronica. Mostly on the alternative side of things. Bob Dylan, The Smiths, Gang Gang Dance, Sparrow House, The Whitest Boy Alive, Bowerbirds, Leonard Cohen, Beck, The Dodos. Those all come

Films: Rushmore, The Diving Bell and The Butterfly & Amelie were all highly enjoyable/impressive.
I can't explain why, but I also love the movie "You've Got Mail". You don't need to comment on that.

Text: Bukowski's "Women" and Vonnegut's "Slaughterhouse IV" are the first two favorites that come to mind.
I'm really into Bertrand Russell's essays, as well.

I would really like to find a copy of "Sexing the Cherry". It sounds like a trashy teenage romance novel. But the pages I read were about a city where people in hot air balloons scraped words off the sky. I'd like to do that sometime.

Food: I can eat anything. I particularly enjoy/seek out nectarines, hot vanilla chai, cucumber sandwiches with jelly, ham and cheese, chicken with fruity sauces, brie, dried cranberries & CURRYWURST.

The six things I could never do without

Obviously I'd find a way, but these are things which I like quite a lot: Juicy nectarines, my journal, lefty-friendly ballpoint pens, strawberry flavored chapstick, trees, a camera.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The way this year fits into my life.

On a typical Friday night I am

Ragin' it up, or eating spaghetti.

..possibly dancing to Daft Punk.

Fridays are fickle things.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I accidentally burnt down a cabin (in eighth grade) and never told anyone.

You should message me if

-You can recommend a band that will send me on a warm, blissful head-trip scored by jangly pianos, swirling guitars and ambient sound effects.

-You want to exchange postcards.

-You think with your head, and not with your culture.

-You wear cardigans.

-You want to practice my French.

-You live in Paris and want to drink wine until we're drunk sometime.
