Born and raised in a burb outside of Boston, I attended school and promptly moved to Chicago to try to make my way in finance but it nearly killed my soul and so I moved back to New England in 2013 to the chagrin of evil villains everywhere.
I love reading and writing and I'm working on my first book.
My guinea pig is named Gertie. She enjoys sitting down and eating hay and hiding in her pigloo when I walk by. She warms up to people after some bribing with some really sweeet hay.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a computer developer for a former startup. We got bought recently and I made absolutely no money from the acquisition.
While the job is fun at times, it is also, brace yourself, a job. So I require outside stimulation. I get that through volunteering, being with friends, and writing.
I want to start my own coffeehouse and then convert it into a beer garden in the evening when the weather is nice.
I'm trying to relearn Spanish after not using it since high school. It's amazing how much has stuck with me and hoping I can become fluent.
I’m really good at
I've been told by friends that I can open jars in an efficient way and have been known to open the jars without prompting. It is said that I'm supernaturally in tune with the jars and the amount of force it takes to open one. It is rumored that peanut butter jars, specifically of the organic variety, whisper my name behind closed cabinet doors and shelves of supermarkets with a mixture of fear and astonishment.
The first things people usually notice about me
If you call me, the first thing you will notice is that I said "Yellow" instead of "Hello".
If you're a child and you see me on the street, you will reach for my glasses and/or beard and be generally rude while also incredibly adorable.
If you're a dog, you'd say I'm a weird looking dog but I smell good.
If you're my parents, you will notice I've forgotten something.
If you're a peanut butter jar of the organic variety, you will keep your distance and eye me warily and with great prejudice.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Anything by Faulkner, Flannery O'Connor, Roberto Bolaño, Gogol, Alice Munro, JM Coetzee. Invisible Man. My favorite book is Moby Dick. I read a lot. Fiction is my choice but nonfiction is my vocation. Will be tackling Middlemarch soon......
Wuthering Heights > Jane Eyre
Good good movies and good bad movies.
Jazz, classical, some indie rock, any hip-hop, and any electronic stuff. Philip Glass is my hero but I could understand if you can't stand him. Pixies are obligatory. Bowie too. My appreciate for Wu-tang grows every year.
almonds, avocados, coffee. I eat chicken but try to avoid pig and cow when I can, for ethical reasons.
The six things I could never do without
A nice suit
A pair of nunchucks
A sick beat
A firm mattress
And some omega3 capsules.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My next vacation idea. The truth is that I have yet to have the opportunity to leave these United States so I'm trying to figure out a way to (cheaply!) visit Europe, Asia, South America, the other continents.
On a typical Friday night I am
According to my personal Fortune Teller, I'll be at a concert of an unknown band talking to the person on my right and left and repeating a joke I heard a couple of days ago. I will have a beer in my hand. I will have a good time. Otherwise, I'll be at home reading or watching a movie. And, according to my personal Fortune Teller, will also be having a good time.
(I don't actually have a personal Fortune Teller...)
You should message me if
you enjoy having fun and on the flipside don't message me if you hate having fun! What do you have against fun, oh-nameless-funless mademoiselle??
Also don't be too far away.
