I am responsible, analytical, and æsthetic.
My Self-Summary
I consider myself to be strongly on the problem-solver rather than
creative side of things. (What creativity I have expressed has
generally been framed within the context of a problem, e.g., write
a novel in 30 days.) I tend to dissect situations into little
pieces and figure out how to solve each piece. I'm not much of one
for effort when I don't have some assurance that the effort will
actually pay off, but neither would I call myself lazy when the
rare opportunity presents itself. Making your own opportunities
seems like playing the lottery to me: sure, the winners are
glamorous, but the losers are out whatever they put into it, and
it's not like there's any real question which one you're likely to
end up.
Omnia mutantur, nihil interit.
What I’m doing with my life
I am programming computers for a hedge fund and living alone. I am
never out of things to do, yet frequently out of things I consider
worth doing. A disinterested observer would probably say that there
is a clear lack of meaningful social contact in my life right now.
Though I sometimes enjoy my solitude (living alone is a unique
experience that I recommend everyone undertake at some point), it
does also grate on me, but real connections don't seem like the
kind of thing one can force.
I’m really good at
Computer programming. Most things with computers.
Writing clear, concise text.
Not staying beaten down too long.
The first things people usually notice about me
Honestly, I have no idea. It probably varies widely depending on
the context. If you have a better idea for what to put in this box,
let me know.

You should message me if
You live in the Dallas area. I'd prefer people who'd like to hang
out with me in person.
Don't let that stop you, though. A message rarely hurt
anyone.
Oh, and I smoke a pipe, not cigarettes, if you've gotten this far
and that matters to you.
