My self-summary
E Komo mai! (Welcome)

Silly me. Sought to write this "shorter" version after an earlier attempt (Keolalani7) w/1720 matching questions answered seemed too long for some. Yet alas, haven't the patience to answer that many again and it seems the wordsmith showed up here anyway. Oh well! Hope you're patient w/a guy who admittedly can be a jerk at times. :o)

Am a down-to-Earth, yet spiritually oriented, intelligent/well-educated, globally aware truly single man with an open heart who's NOT here to merely browse, date or play games. Instead seek to meet, genuinely become friends and hopefully partner with a like-minded, caring, conscious good soul who's equally willing to actually "have" a long term soulful partner in her life ... yes, "sooner rather than later." (Indeed, why be here otherwise?)

Am drawn to the inherent wisdom, Grace and inner/outer beauty of "woman." Too, relating as I do with deep empathy to what women and the world have experienced at the hands of men (thus subject to my own angst there), I hope to be seen for who I am (i.e., not that) vs a generalized negative "attitude" toward us.

Above said, if you're looking for a good man who's ready, willing, and able to see, meet and cherish you deeply, please read on.
What I’m doing with my life
Moved back to Maui 8/1/12 after eight years of Pacific NW winters. Love Maui and Hawaiian culture as I find it a good place to nurture one's inner being. Too, to reach deeper to who we really are in some ways than seems available on the mainland.

Former public school teacher/counselor and developer of preventive health/wellness programs trained in marriage/family relations, yet alas, still without the joy of the experience. :o(

Live a healthy, modest, conscious-as-possible life. Eat organic, walk daily, gym, meditate and do yoga. Strong w/out dominating, gentle, listen/share feelings responsibly, good communicator and enjoy intelligent conversations. Volunteer and tutor some, and if all goes well, will soon be helping to birth a wonderful, community-based bully-prevention initiative that addresses the issue at the level of adults and whole systems which actually "bred" bullying among youth.

"Five P's" important to me now - a truly-loving, aware "Partner", mutually-nurturing "Place" (home), shared sense of "Purpose" (that makes a contribution somehow, "Playfulness", and responsible "Prosperity"/sufficiency.
I’m really good at
Writing, playing bridge, playing piano, inspiring and reaching the souls of children, being with animals (including those considered "wild and/or dangerous"), heartfelt/intelligent conversations, planning educational events, asking what might be "missing from which we might make things better," deeply exploring the answer. Also, letting my Beloved know I truly see and love her! Hmmm … somewhat facile, too, at making broccoli and cream cheese omelets and broiling salmon! :o)
The first things people usually notice about me
Sparkle in my eye (1st grade teacher called me "button-eyes"!), open, honest, caring, intelligent, good communicator.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
So many.

Books - "The Life Divine" by Sri Aurobindo, "The Mother's Agenda" by Mira Alfassa (sp?), "Waking Up in Time" by Peter Russell, "Be Here Now" by Ram Dass, "Where Wonders Prevail" by Joan Wester Anderson, "A New Earth" by Eckhart Tolle, "Autobiography of a Yogi" by Yogananda. "Rumi, Gazing at the Beloved" by Will Johnson - among many others (truly).

Movies - long time favorite is ET though many others as well... "Eat, Pray, Love", "Won't Back Down", "Atlas Shrugged II", "Cloud Atlas", "Life of Pi" - and on Christmas Day 2012 got the last seat to see the premier in Maui of "Les Miserables." Loved it - especially the last line sung at the end ... "When you truly love someone, you meet God!" Recently watched two great films on Netflix/YouTube titled "Zeitgeist: Moving Forward" and "Surviving Progress." Wish everyone in the world could/would see them. Another of late, "Elles" w/Juliette Binoche.

Music - traditional jazz, rock, classical, Hawaiian, romantic. Have played piano since the 2nd grade yet always sight reading. Want to learn to improvise now. Initially a music major in college singing chorus in everything. Miss that part of my life.

News - rely most upon Amy Goodman, NPR

Food - healthy, mostly organic, lots of veggies though do enjoy wild caught salmon, ono or occasional organic, range fed red meat. Not a spicy eater. Exploring raw foods.
The six things I could never do without
Water, healthy food, clean air, safe nurturing place to live
Caring, sincere people
Children, Nature and her wonderful creatures
Iao Valley ("Home of the Gods" to ancient Hawaiians) where I am daily embraced by Divinity
Love, understanding and arms of my Sweetie (where are you?)
A sense of purpose and deeper Essence of Life
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How we might experience ourselves as "one and able to partner" versus “separate and having to compete”. Noting studies report an exponential disconnect in society leading to geometric increases in self-harm among teens, middle age and seniors - despite high tech "social networking" - my Aquarius self wants to do something about it. Do realize tho' shifts like that require "readiness," and we may not be there yet.

Carolyn Myss speaks of “becoming a truly congruent human being” - the late musicologist/philosopher Jean Kline suggests the two most important questions in life are … "Who are we really? And why are we here?" – and Ekhart Tolle views "presence" as a more viable alternative to "personality self." All great foundations to explore w/one’s Beloved it seems.

Ruminations like these leave me dreaming of a life in greater balance, sufficiency and harmony amid the beauty, delight, and embrace of a Beloved, Nature and Grace. Picture a sweet home amidst a caring, intelligent, semi-rural, small community in which we could make a difference somehow. Sound good?
On a typical Friday night I am
After a swim in Iao Valley river and sitting under my favorite waterfall enjoying the natural lomi-lomi massage she gives me, generally have yummy dinner before taking myself to view a quality film. Wish you were here to enjoy it all with me. :)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Clearly not "perfect" yet will always grow and look forward to it, hopefully guided by the wisdom and gentle, loving, playful spirit of my Beloved (You?).

I've recent photos w/dates here amidst others reflecting my love of nature, kids and critters. Actually carded recently to justify a senior rate, and pegged at 59-60 at a health clinic Feb 2013! Loved it enough to do 35 USMC pushups that night! :o) As baseball great Satchel Paige put it, " How old would you be, if you didn't know how old you are?" Or Tom Selleck, "It's indeterminate!" :o)

This said, the number here is just a tad higher than how I'm seen by others. feel myself getting younger every day. No worries. Have been on the planet a mere 5 years longer. :o)
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 40–118
  • Located anywhere
  • Who are single
  • For long-term dating
You should message me if
You genuinely desire a "partner" with whom to share and co-create the rest of your life. Indeed, rather than hang back taking forever to get to know someone and be known, you’re able to lean in and say "YES!" - in doing so, to reach beyond OKC/email near term to real time warm voices, intelligent conversations and laughter via phone/Skype and meeting when things feel right.

Too, amidst any ("undated") younger photos, you provide at least one taken this year that’s truly dated. I do understand the "pull" to be seen in the beauty of our youth - especially on the part of women. Yet I'd like to see today's beauty in you, dear. Did so for you, here. :o)

You're in a good place. You’re happy, positive, and optimistic with a sense of adventure. You also don't look like prevailing notions of your "age" given you've taken care of yourself. You love to love and be silly. We each are going through a second or third childhood responsibly, and increasingly open to "growing" into wordlessly grateful and loving beings together.

Mahalo (thank you) for visiting and for the gift you are to life. :o)

Aloha
Larry
