My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Art Teacher. Avid reader. A nerdy guy. Sultry. Shy.

I used to be a photographer-ninja back in the day, but I got bit by the teaching bug, and decided that making clay pinch pots, and coloring in rainbows with small children was ultimately more conducive to my mental health than the weekly bloodbath that is free-lance journalism. (no disrespect to the journalists out there)

I love working with students as they discover how to use a particular medium. I love watching them grow to understand the techniques and possibilities they can use to express themselves. I love telling oddball stories and crude jokes to get kids interested in art history. (a hard sell in grade school) I love inappropriate humor, non sequiturs, and a goodly dose of sarcasm to get through the day. I love goofing around outdoors, skipping stones, and climbing trees.

STL born and raised. Went to Webster University for photography, and Washington University for Art Education. Currently trying to reteach myself piano and get better at rock-climbing.

I have been told by various people that I have a radio voice. I have also been told by various ladies that girls don't date me for my looks, they date me because I am weird.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Aside from my job teaching, I'm very serious about goofing off on a regular basis.

Seriously though; if I can't spend at least a small portion of the day staring into space, doodling in my sketchbook, or just laying on the carpet facedown with my eyes open, then it will probably be a crummy day.

I spend a lot of time working on various scripts and drawings, usually for some sort of project I'm involved in. Did a web-comic for a few years in the past decade, currently involved in a hodgepodge of humor writings/ short stories. One story I'm working on is titled, 'A Short History of Mashed Potatoes.'

Other hobby stuffs working in my garden, taking hikes, rock-climbing, exploring abandoned buildings, reading, beer, and nachos.

Beyond all that, I'd like to travel, and possibly teach abroad. And meet a swell girl that wants to go on adventures with me.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Writing, Drawing, Photography, Listening, People Watching, Tetris, Rummikub, Scrabble, Frisbee Golf, Soccer, Bocce Ball, Ping-Pong, Risk, Mastermind, Tire-Swings

Not so good at: Cooking Lentils, Texting, Diving off the High-Dive, Dealing with Bureaucracy, Teaching to NCLB (eat a million dicks G.W.)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My goofy and dry sense of humor. Or the tall guy in glasses. That's me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Currently on the nightstand:
Autumn of the Patriarch (Gabrielle Garcia Marquez)
Nelson Algern's Own Book of of Lonesome Monsters (various)
You Shall Know our Velocity (Dave Eggers)
Ain't no Making It (Jay McLeod)
Mere Christianity (C.S. Lewis)
Lessons of the Vietnam War (various - textbook)
Rendezvous with Rama (Arthur C. Clarke)
The Complete Works of Edgar Allan Poe
2312( Kim Stanley Robinson)
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?( Phillip K. Dick)
Usually of mixture of fiction, history, education literature, biographies, and some science fiction (especially oddball stuff from the 50's and 60's - they always have the neatest cover art)

Musically it's a lot of Sterolab, Radiohead, Electrelane, Daft Punk, Django Reinhardt, Count Basie, Chopin, Beethoven, Tom Waits, Neil Young, Clinic, The Pixies, R.E.M., The Clash, Ella Fitzgerald, Sufjan Stevens, Regina Spektor, The Cars, The Flaming Lips, Arcade Fire, Big Black, Cat Power, Modest Mouse, Woodie Guthrie, Wu-tang Clan, Michael Jackson, Mirah, Godspeed, The Vaselines, and Bach. I enjoy most music on one level or another, but I will probably choose more from the 'rock', 'folk', and 'classical' sections than I will the 'country' or 'reggae' sections if Im looking for new music at the library.

Movies - to avoid another massive block of text, I'll summarize by saying I like kung-fu and action movies, comedies, independent films and documentaries.

Shows - Eh...don't really watch TV, but on Netflix I'll watch It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Walking Dead, Parks & Recreation, Orange is the New Black, Arrested Development, and the Office.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I could do without most things, and would probably be better off having less junk.

But I do enjoy a spicy bloody mary with breakfast. And my cat Simon. He is radical.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Story ideas for projects I'm working on.
Weird bugs.
Post-Apocalyptic zombie scenarios.
Other mischief.
Why all my socks are missing.
How to organize a fancy croquet party where everyone dresses up and sips cocktails whilst whacking balls through wickets.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Wreaking havoc in the kitchen trying to prepare something interesting for a potluck dinner, usually followed by dancing, karaoke, board games, or a bike ride if the weather is nice. (FBC anyone?)
