Although my entire family is in LA, I am new-ish to LA.
I know I know...Short version:
Unlike the rest of Iranians in LA, I actually grew up in Iran ;) which was fantastic-but whole other topic.
I came here for 1 year of high school and college.
Went to SF after for med school/residency and worked there for a bit after (total of 13-14 years).
Back in LA as of last year. So far so great.
My fourth year out of training/working on my own and enjoying it so far.
Oh and I am a "wanna be" artist/interior designer. No one has seen my work and probably few ever will but I dabble and it keeps me busy/happy.
A really green thumb too. My place looks like freaking Jumangi.
Looking (I knew about the show, but hadn't watched it for some reason. Just binge watched it. Story of my life...I mean, how the F did they know so much about my 20s and early 30s?!! I thought I was being secretive. Richie...that's what I want-are there men like that out there? Genuinely sweet men?!)
-Walking Dead (did anyone get annoyed a bit with the last season? got a bit too artsie for my taste. Not that I won't watch the next season-just saying)
-Tyrant (watch this one with the parentals)
-Adventures of Merlin (Whaaaa? Yes)
-Leftovers (last season was way too much-but what are u gonna do, u stick loyal to your series).
-Heroes > Lost
-Did anyone else like the TV series "Charmed?" Probably just me! I just found out "the manor" is actually in LA!!! So I did a drive by.
And of course the "classics:"
Will & Grace
I love fantasy/fiction books we are talking Harry Potter Books (the movies not as much), Hunger Games, X-men, Etc
Just finished reading The Game of Thrones series (ugh!!! so long! He talks SO much) and just binge watched the series. Rob Stark or Jon Snow?
"Tales of the City" and "Children of the Earth" book series...anyone? Major major points if there are any BabyCakes or Ayla fans out there...
I know I know...calm down. I have read deeper things too and have watched a few documentaries here and there ;)
Oh and of course "The Velvet Rage." Every gay man, parents of gays, gay parents, and every one who claims to love a homo MUST read this book. Probably more than once. Mine is highlighted heavily (multiple colors) with notes.
My night guard
And the boring ones:
Friends, family, blah blah
In a galaxy far far away (the valley) hanging out with my boys (the nephews)
If I am adventurous maybe I'll meet a friend for dinner/drinks or maybe convince some poor friend of mine to watch a chick flick romantic comedy with me.
-are genuine and sweet (Richie-like; see above).
-are able to laugh at yourself.
-are secretly a romantic but play it cool
-are busy, enjoy your alone time but also long for a companion.
-have been there, done that and have gotten it out of your system (God knows I have).
-want kids/family but worry if you can ever do it.
-if you too don't really understand what "I am not into the gay scene" means and find it a bit insulting.
-if u are beyond the point of asking "are you a top or a bottom?"
-if you have $$....just kidding...not really....wait, what?
-if at least 50% of the shit I have said means something to u
