My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
No, that's not my real name.

!!I stress!! that nothing is more important to me than intelligence as defined by intricacy, purposefulness, intentional action, attentiveness, reason, knowledge, experience, and understanding. I want it, and I want it in art and human beings.

I could make a long list of philosophy isms that I identify with, but I won't. You can thank me or complain to me or feel alienated from me later.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Did some shit in academia. Cared about it a lot. Died inside. Graduating soon, maybe. I'll be a certified expert in Pacific and Asian studies, philosophy, and social rejection. Actually, I really like academia. Now I'm doing a second degree in Computer Science because futurology is cool or something? I guess I wanna get a job involving the development of personal robots, or AI, or VR, or AR, or something, or nothing.

Uhh, I taught english to small kids occasionally for yen compensation. And might do it for a year or two again somewhere else.

I make dislikeable electronic music when I'm in the mood (I'm not in the mood right now). All these songs are old and have questionable production value because I've been too depressed to properly finish anything for the past year or two.

The month before moving to busiest-city-in-the-world Tokyo, I went to a buddhist meditation retreat in the middle of a forest where I didn't speak or communicate in any way or form including internet, music, or computers for 10 days.

I'm sad.

The end.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
DDR/ITG/PIU rhythm dance video exergames. I used to play competitively and win big tournaments. I'm somewhat hesitant to tell people this now because people seem to think it's sooo cooool. And then I become "that DDR guy." So pretend you never read this kthxplz. That being said, I still play sometimes for exercise and for stress relief.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I like to do weird shit to fuck with people so I can make their day happier and more interesting. Or maybe I just like to fuck with people. Or maybe I just plain like to do weird shit because I actually am weird but then I tell people I do it to entertain others when really I'm just trying to entertain myself.

I hate pop culture. For now, at least. We'll see what the year 20xx brings. I might like it then.

Books: I like postmodernism and I like short stories. I thought Murakami Haruki was some stupid fad, and then I read one of his books and really identified with literature for the first time in my life. That was nice. And so is HP and the Methods of Rationality, and so is sleeping upside down in my bed when I can't get to sleep properly every other night. Kafka and Miranda July are pretty nice too. The three of us can relate.

Movies: I pirate a lot (a lot a lot) of movies. Always interesting ones, and sometimes good ones.

Important ones:

----> ::I ♥ Huckabees (2004); <----
::The Science of Sleep (2006);
::Me and You and Everyone We Know (2005);
::Her (2013);
::Upstream Color (2013);

This short film encapsulates everything I care about in art, I think.

Anime? tion? Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita? Shinsekai Yori? The Time of Eve? Hourou Musuko? Aku no Hana? Suisei no Gargantia? Yakitate!! Japan? + probably 40 other things that are okay and probably 20 other things that are not-so-okay.
And of course Miyazaki and friends.

I used to download a lot of Japanese TV dramas when I was younger. Now I throw up.

Normal people shows? Bored to Death, True Detective, Fringe, Firefly, The Office, Parks and Recreation, The Eric Andre Show, and wait that last one is not normal nevermind.

Music: I really like electronic music. Venetian Snares, The Flashbulb, Squarepusher? The Quick Brown Fox, t+pazolite, Round Wave Crusher? DJ Technorch, Aural Vampire, 232COMIT? And then a bunch more Japanese doujin music that no one has ever heard of and especially doesn't care about.

I also probably spend too much time listening to my own music. AHAHA. :|

Games: Music games in general. Good story games. Obligatory Portal 2, blablablaaaPCgamezZblalblalbbbb. FFIX. SSBMelee. Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Used to play a lot of Ragnarok Online when I was a boy. Now that I'm still just a boy, I'm going to play FFXIV 2.0 'til I die.
Update: JK, I QUIT. Now I play FFXI because hacking in MMOs is badass.

Food: I'm pro at cooking a billion different kinds of vegan Japanese food.

When I went out to eat in Japan, I would usually go to this small Indian restaurant down the road. The owner would often smile at me and then I would smile back and then I would eat my curry and then I would go home and then I would sit in the dark by myself.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.

Do you even BELIEVE in things?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
thinking. metathinking.

No seriously:
What I ought to do with my life.

I have a lot of trouble not caring about things. Okay? Okay.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
There are many bugs in Japan.
Stick bugs. Gokiburi. Semi.
I am but just one of these bugs,
lively chirping in the forest,
bringing life to the landscape.
I am here not to be seen, but to be heard;
for I must remember that insects are not human—
I am gross.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Some people don't identify as cisgender,
I don't even identify as cishumanbeing.

And I actually don't live in Japan anymore.
(Until next year ?!!?!?)
