My Notes edit

My self-summary

I am a 32 year old middle school teacher who loves the city. I lived in Chicago for four years where I started my teaching career but could not get settled there so I came back to the city I love-Minneapolis. I am always looking to better myself and the world around me. I read avidly and love to discuss issues, ideas, etc. Coffee is my friend. I hate starbucks...I will explain this at another time if needed, but know that I will more than likely not meet you at starbucks.

I want someone who is genuine-you are who you are...because I am genuine. I do not hide anything about myself and know myself very well. I do not play games with people's hearts or lives.

I also love words and artistic expression and some day will be a published author...it would, of course help, if I could stay focused on one idea long enough to actually make it into a book.

What I'm doing with my life

Getting settled back into Minneapolis life and reconnecting with friends and family here while letting go of the past so I can focus on my future. I am anxiously awaiting the start of school in the fall so I can dive into teaching language arts full time-which is what I have always wanted to do. After four years of teaching subjects I am not good at and do not love, I am starting a position doing exactly what I love-helping kids to love literature and writing as much as I do.

I will also be taking some classes this fall to complete the requirements for my Minnesota teaching license... funny they expect more here than they do in Chicago Public Schools....

Also just joined Gold's Gym and got a personal trainer to get myself in shape. So far, its going great. I love it and am really getting into the habit of going to the gym after work. In a few short months, I will be even cuter than I am now and have more energy and stuff too! wooo hoooo

I'm really good at

Asking questions, making people laugh, helping people to see the funny or ironic side of just about everything, tormenting children while shaping their young minds, encouraging people young and old to question everything in order to establish a solid sense of themselves and the world around them, making french toast, sleeping, harassing my cat Jem, reading, choosing books to read, making fun of people (all in a kind spirit of course), moving, making coffee, drinking coffee, cooking, entertaining people, crafting poems with magnets.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

My strawberry blonde hair, razor sharp wit and my smile. Also my curves.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I love to read...so...the list for books may be long...first anything by Brennan Manning, The Gospel of Judas, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Secret Life of Bees, A Heretics Guide to Eternity, Wicked, Such a Pretty Fat, anything about urban education, social justice, etc....Jesus For President, Thoreau, Emerson, Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, Shakespeare, Shel Silverstein, Eric Carle (yes he wrote the very hungry caterpillar and the grouchy ladybug and more stories about insects and i love him), Calvin and Hobbes, the Boondocks,

Music, I love India Arie, U2, Linkin Park, the soundtrack to Avenue Q, R&B, Pop, Counting Crows...pretty much anything.

Movies...again, pretty much anything. Favs are Sliding Doors, Juno, Shawshank Redemption, The Usual Suspects, Rattatouille, Fight Club, Oceans 11, The Italian Job, Runaway Bride

The six things I could never do without

Coffee.
My macbook
My cats
Books
Nice pens
Friends
Family.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

How to make a better world without becoming a cynical bitter person giving up on humanity.

How to save money.

How to be a better person, lose weight, get in shape, etc.

What are my cats thinking?

What are my students thinking?

On a typical Friday night I am

Relaxing and recuperating from the week alone or with friends and family.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here

I have an odd sense of humor and am very easy going and sarcastic...to the point of sometimes offending people. But I do not intend offense...i just see the funny side of life a lot.

You should message me if

Um you find me interesting and want to know more....
