I am cheerful, compasionate, and intelligent.

My Self-Summary

I invest a lot of energy in people around me. I tend to have large circles of friends. I travel, play and critique video games, discuss, solve, sew, run (have completed 2 half marathons recently), cycle (both trail and road), read (anything from the classics to the most senseless drivel), and watch movies. I recently discovered a love of improvisational theatre. I have a British-ish sense of humor, and am generally easy going. I am funny in some situations, and quiet in others, depending on the people around me.

I've visited the majority of the 50 states, China, Italy, England, Germany, and New Zealand. I'm planning on renting a flat in Casa Blanca for the month of January after I ship my current project.

I enjoy conversation, idling away hours talking about nothing and everything, focusing on the micro and the macro in turn. I like OpenGL. I want to write an iPhone app when I grow up. I'd *actually rather write an iPhone game, but it would violate my non-compete clause.

I nearly cried walking down the street listening to Stephen Fry read Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince when the Unfortunate Event occurred. The first time I saw fireflies was when I was speaking at a computational geometry conference in Pisa. I am constantly tempted to introduce those around me to new ideas, new music, new situations, and sometimes give in. Mel Brooks once kissed me on the cheek.

What I’m doing with my life

Primarily: Having a good time :)

I'm a manager at a video game company. This takes a fairly good-sized chunk of my time, as you might imagine. I'm also going back to school part-time to finish off the last little bit of my Masters in Computer Science. Nerd.

I’m really good at

Singing. The considered and professional analysis of popular media, including but not limited to Video Games :) Conversation. Math. Running. Downhill cycling. Cross-country cycling. Cycle-commuting (you may see a pattern emerging). Dressing myself. Cooking. Grammar. Massage. Typing. Drawing. Remembering tiny details. Whistling.

The first things people usually notice about me

1) I am human
2) I am female
3) I am an adult
4) I am caucasian

...which are basically the first things anyone notices about another human.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books:
- The Picture of Dorian Grey
- The Last Unicorn

*interesting sidenote: I once spent some time with one of the world's foremost Tolkien scholars at a computational geometry conference. I learned a lot about the ins-and-outs of Tolkein's metaphorical symbology. Makes the movie/books *much more interesting.

- Friends and Family
- Work
- Travel
- Food/Water/Air
- My bicycle(s)
- The BBC

I spend a lot of time thinking about

- Video Games (although I don't really play a lot anymore).
- My friends and family.
- Good wine.
- Good coffee
- Good food.
- Sociolinguistic theory.
- Problems in software engineering.
- How best to accomplish my life goals of being happy and healthy.

On a typical Friday night I am

Eating with friends, or at the theatre, or reading, or working, or...well, anything, really. I believe in making the most of my time, which means that I'm not really a creature of habit.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Pfft.

You should message me if

You think that the following things might be cool:
- exploring an old church
- playing chess randomly
- solving an interesting problem
- running for a long time for no real reason
- cooking a meal with unexpected ingredients
- spending an inordinate amount of time playing Final Fantasy

Or some combination of these things, or none of them. Try me :)
