My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Wow, been awhile since I updated this thing.

Living in Astoria, moved here from the wintry plains of Minnesota to learn how to make pretty moving pictures (MFA Computer Art program at SVA) and tell enchanting stories. My social pool's a little shallow (I know people from school and that's about it), so I figured I'd turn to the awesome power of the internet to broaden the circle a bit.

Also in a weird quasi-long-distance sort of deal with my long-term SO, so just looking to hang out for the time being.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
In short, I want to be a storyteller. I'm endlessly fascinated with music, books, film, interactive gaming, and any other way of transmitting ideas, hopes, goals, and dreams.

I'm particularly interested in visual communication; painting, drawing, film, animation, etc. So I've been polishing my skills as a 3D character animator.

So what that REALLY means is I currently work tech/systems support for VFX/post-production studios in the city while working on my portfolio as I try to 'get into the industry'. Works for now I suppose.

I also intend to have a dedicated library in my house someday. It's something I'm very excited about.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Random trivia, double entendre, making conversations awkward, public speaking, singing (of all things), keeping things in perspective, seeing both sides of an argument, games, getting too many ideas for things I want to do, then never finding time to do them, and writing lists.

I'm also more skilled at animation than I thought I was... probably a plus considering the desired career path.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Someone once told me that I had a "positive aura" when they first met me. I'm still not quite sure how to interpret that, but I certainly take it as a compliment.

Friend of mine also commented that I'm very 'chivalrous'. So again, interpret that as you will.

Though it's probably just the beard.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: I tend toward read a lot of fantasy and sci-fi series, though I've been branching out a bit more recently. Currently reading Brandon Sanderson's "Stormlight Archives" series.

Movies: Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, How to Train Your Dragon, Up, Serenity, The Phantom of the Opera, Kung-Fu Panda, Tangled, Despicable Me, Saving Private Ryan, Bridge on the River Kwai, the new Star Trek, The Boondock Saints, Avatar (guilty pleasure, I'm a sucker for visuals) just to name a few. Also, Wall-E is about the most adorable movie I've ever seen.

TV: I'm terrible at keeping up with this, but recently it's been Burn Notice, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, and catching up on Star Trek: The Next Generation

Music: I feel like this is a major one for a lot of people, but really I'm content to listen to whatever's on or nothing at all.

Food: Seafood! I've been slowly branching out though (kinda have to in this city), just the other day had a very good Thai spicy ramen soup.

Games: World of Warcraft, Dragon Age, Starcraft II, Lost Odyssey, Batman: Arkham City, Dark Souls, Borderlands, Mass Effect, Skyrim, Minecraft, Diablo III
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. I work tech support and am a digital animator. Computer takes top spot out of necessity
2. Daydreams
3. TV Tropes. Seriously, it's worse than Wikipedia for me
4. Bulleit bourbon?
5. My sketchbook
6. Friends, family, and the necessities of survival (I think that counts as like 8 things by itself, but fuck that it's my list)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Recently, it's story ideas for my upcoming thesis project. I'd love hearing ideas/critiques!
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Most recently I've been doing some animation for a film my friends are working on, so that's taken up a lot of my spare time.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm allergic to your cat. Don't get me wrong; I'll play with the adorable little bundle for hours, if you don't mind me being all sneezy and wheezy afterward.

If the mood moves you, I suppose. I'm just looking to meet fun creative-type people in New York to hang out with, and I'm still involved with a charming and lovely lady back home in MN.
