Living in Brooklyn, from the wintry plains of Minnesota, to learn how to make pretty moving pictures (MFA Computer Art program at SVA) and tell enchanting stories. My social pool's a little shallow (I know people from school and that's about it), so I figured I'd turn to the awesome power of the internet to meet fun, exciting, creative people.

I am a nerd. I'm driven by visual art, and the power of a good story. I mean, I packed up everything I've got and moved halfway across the country to make movies for a living, that's gotta count for something. Right?

I'm also making a thing! It's a 3 1/2 minute animated short film for my MFA thesis project. If you care to take a look at the production in-progress, here it is: armomsen-thesis.tumblr.com.

In short, I want to be a storyteller. I'm endlessly fascinated with music, books, film, interactive gaming, and any other way of transmitting ideas, hopes, goals, and dreams. I'm also interested in it because I don't think very many people take the time to look around and really think about their place in the universe and the sheer boundless potential our little species has. So I plan on recording, somehow, what I see and experience, in the hope that others will see it, enjoy it, and maybe learn from it, even after I'm gone.

I'm particularly interested in visual communication; painting, drawing, film, animation, etc. So I'm aiming to one day be an animator, art director, or concept artist in a major entertainment company (say, Pixar, for example). Even the choices in aesthetic can transmit volumes of information, and I'd love to have a hand in telling a particularly potent and evocative story.

I've also been a fan of martial arts for some time, and have started studying t'ai-chi and Southern Praying Mantis. It's been a lot of fun so far :D

I also fully intend to have a room in my house just for a library. It's something I'm very excited about.

Random trivia, double entendre, making conversations awkward, public speaking, singing (of all things), keeping things in perspective, seeing both sides of an argument, games, getting too many ideas for things I want to do, then never finding time to do them, and writing lists.

I'm also more skilled at animation than I thought I was... probably a plus considering the desired career path.

Someone once told me that I had a "positive aura" when they first met me. I'm still not quite sure how to interpret that, but I certainly take it as a compliment.

Friend of mine also commented that I'm very 'chivalrous'. So again, interpret that as you will.

Books: I tend toward read a lot of fantasy and sci-fi series, as a continuation of the world-building theme. Current series I have going are The Song of Ice and Fire, The Wheel of Time, and The Codex Alera.

Movies: Again, sci-fi/fantasy. Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, How to Train Your Dragon, Up, Serenity, The Phantom of the Opera, Saving Private Ryan, Bridge on the River Kwai, the new Star Trek, The Boondock Saints, Avatar (guilty pleasure, I'm a sucker for visuals) just to name a few. Also, Wall-E is about the most adorable movie I've ever seen.

TV: I don't really watch much of it, since I don't have it hooked up in my apartment. I try and hit the Daily Show whenever I can, though. Also, Game of Thrones. Recently, Battlestar Galactica (I realize I'm like, 8 years late to the party). Also also, The Legend of Korra :)

Music: I always hate this question, because I'm never sure how to respond. I love music, but have never had a head for keeping singers, groups, albums, and genres straight. Setting Pandora onto the Gorillaz and letting it go has given me a playlist I like, though, so let's go with that.

Food: I love, love, love seafood. Sushi has been my most recent kick; I can't get enough of the stuff.

Games: World of Warcraft, Dragon Age, Starcraft II, Lost Odyssey, Batman: Arkham City, Mass Effect, Skyrim, Minecraft, Diablo III

Recently, it's story ideas for my upcoming thesis project. I'd love hearing ideas/critiques!

Now that school's out for the summer my week hasn't really settled into a 'normal' schedule. I'm kind of freelancing, taking classes, working on thesis pre-production. Pretty flexible at this point.

Since this seems to be a common deal-breaker on here, I'll throw it out: I'm allergic to your cat. Don't get me wrong; I'll play with the adorable little bundle for hours, if you don't mind me being all sneezy and wheezy afterward.

If the mood moves you, I suppose. I'm just looking to meet creative-type people in New York for starters, and still have a charming and lovely lady back home.
