I am bubbly, intelligent, and open.

My Self-Summary

I'm a happy, optimistic person -- I think the secret to having a great life is not only embarking on lots of new adventures (both big and small!), but also finding the fun part about even the things that seem to suck.

I love learning and trying new things. I just completed my first triathlon a few months ago...it was a total stretch for me, but now that I've tried it I think I might be a little hooked on the sport. I love good grammar (though I'm a terrible speller!) and I ask lots of questions.

I’m looking for a man who’s smart enough to love smart women. Confident enough to stand up for what he believes in (even when it’s hard) – and to admit he’s wrong sometimes. (I will if you will!) A genuinely nice guy who cares about making the world a better place for others and whom I can really trust. You gotta have an inner dork, and you can’t be afraid to be silly sometimes. Oh, and trite as this sounds, you gotta make me laugh. I do tend to laugh a lot, so maybe that’s not too hard…but it’s definitely important.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm a management consultant, loving the education and global health work I've been doing lately.

Aside from work, I like doing all sorts of things...like eat, talk, lie on the beach reading a good book, play Scrabble, travel the world, do crossword puzzles, watch movies with great plot twists, be outdoors, engage in random debate…or sometimes just sit around doing nothing with my friends. You could find me bhangra dancing, chilling in Dolores Park, camping with friends, walking around the city, watching all sorts of performing arts and bad reality tv -- I generally have fun doing just about anything.

I’m really good at

After we have a random discussion on some obscure topic, being curious enough to look it up on wikipedia afterward and email you a link. In which case you might either (a) be excited to learn more, (b) find it odd that I cared enough to look it up, (c) appreciate me showing you that you were right and I was wrong, or (d) think I'm an asshole for showing you that you were wrong and I was right. But really -- it's not about right and wrong, it's just about getting to the bottom of things. :)

The first things people usually notice about me

My enthusiasm.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I really like reading fiction...anything, really, but particularly Vonnegut or Murakami or Palahniuk. Most recent read was Indignation by Philip Roth -- the other day I ordered a Tartin Bakery grilled cheese sandwich to go and then realized it would probably taste best in Dolores Park with a good book (to read, not to eat) -- so I ran into a bookstore and this was what I ran out with. I loved it.

I also love Law & Order, The Office, Lost, Arrested Development, fried plantains, dogs, talking for hours, California, bacon, sunny days, board games, cheese of all sorts, easygoing people, math, my friends, volunteering, that trendy natural froyo with mochi & lychee, breakfast cereal, ocean...I could go on and on. And I like all kinds of music, though I'm not really a connoisseur of any -- but I love being introduced to new things, so maybe you can show me your faves? I particularly love country music, so don't hate. If you gave it a real chance, I bet you'd like it, too. :)

On a typical Friday night I am

I'd say 2/3 of the time it would be attending dinner parties, throwing it down at game nights, watching DVDs, or enjoying various other hanging-out sorts of activities. The other 1/3 would be seeing concerts, hitting up bars, checking out restaurants with groups of friends, or enjoying various other going-out sorts of activities.

You should message me if

You fall into category (a) in my "I'm really good at" section, above.
