My self-summary
I like to work out almost every day and I am attracted to women who are also fit. I am very active; in addition to working out, I dance a bit. I do Lindy Hop (swing dance) and I can do a few of the Latin dances. I travel a bit too; I have been to about 80 countries and most of the states. I even travel specifically to go to dance events in various places throughout the world. I am a city dweller and like to do things spontaneously in the city. I do not own a car, but I own a Harley. I am not a hardcore biker, I like to ride on the weekends; I take long trips as far away as Chicago (my hometown), Atlantic City, Memphis, and other places.

Please be aware that I do not live in New York City, I happen to live in Washington D.C., but spend many weekends in NYC. I am usually at a Lindy Hop/Swing dance event in NYC on the weekends. You do not have to write to me, just find me on the dance floor and mention you've seen my profile.

I am a professional, I guess. I have some college degrees—master’s level. I am not that interested in a person’s formal education—life education is more important to me. I like going to the movies, but I like reading books too. I read mostly non-fiction books dealing with history or economics; I also read novels occasionally. I am a bit unorthodox so I like women who are also a bit unorthodox. I am attracted to people who are unusual, independent thinkers, and who are non-conforming. Mainly, I am looking for someone with whom I can discuss books read, movies seen, and ideas thought of, and/or dance with--I can give private swing dance lessons for singles or couples.
What I’m doing with my life
Working, dancing, traveling, and trying to improve my French and Japanese by watching French and Japanese movies.
I’m really good at
Knowing myself
The first things people usually notice about me
I have a white (grey) patch of hair in front; however, the spot is disappearing. The rest of my hair is turning grey, so now I am salt and pepper and embracing it.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I read two (2) or three (3) books a month so I have a lot of favorites--here are some recent (this year) favorites: Slave Trade by Hugh Thomas, American Lion, Andrew Jackson in the White House by Jon Meacham, The Hidden Cost of Being African American, How Wealth Perpetuates Inequality by Thomas M. Shapiro, The Wolf of Wall Street by Jordan Belfort, The Match King, Ivar Kreuger, the Financial Genius Behind a Century of Wall Street Scandals by Frank Partnoy, Misquoting Jesus, the Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Why by Bart D. Ehrman, John Brown, Abolitionist - The Man Who Killed Slavery, Sparked the Civil War, and Seeded Civil Rights by David S. Reynolds

I like foreign and independent films and comedies. You can find me at the E Street Theater where I watch films like Lore, The Place Beyond the Pines, Stoker, Rust and Bone, In The Land of Blood and Honey, First Position and many more.

I mostly watch news and sit-coms. I guess one counter balances the other. Dateline, Thom Hartman, The Max Keiser Report, This Week with George Stephanopoulos, Meet the Press, Mad Money

The Big Bang Theory, The Middle, Modern Family

The good news is that I do not have cable so I only watch free tv.

I love going to live theater and I go to Las Vegas to see the shows. My favorite shows ever are: Lion King, Wicked, Chicago, The Jersey Boys and in Las Vegas any Cirque du Soleil production, but especially KA and Elvis.

Pizza and vegetables

Because of Lindy Hop I listen mostly to big band (swing) music especially Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Tommie Dorsey, Chet Walker, Sarah Vaugh, George Gee, Billy Holiday, Peggy Lee, Brian Setzer and others.

I like other Jazz artists like Esperanza Spaulding, Diane Reeves, Boney James, Charlie Parker, Louis Armstrong, Al Jarreau, Brandford Marsalis, Wynton Marsalis, David Sanborn, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, Earl Klugh, George Benson, John Coltrane and many others.

Bob Marley

Ray Charles

The six things I could never do without
Dancing, reading, comedy, financial news, movies, and exercise.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
various things, but in keeping with the idea of dating: "do people realize that men need women much more than women need men?" Men are becoming more and more obsolete in modern societies as attitudes and roles change and both sexes are confused as to who should do what, and they are confused by their expectations.
On a typical Friday night I am
Watching news on tv or out dancing.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've had a vasectomy.
You should message me if
you are interested in participating in one of the activities I've listed, i.e, if you want to dance with me, or go to the theater or cinema with me, or exercise with me, or read (and discuss the world) with me because those are the things that I do the most.
