My self-summary
I am a positive, energetic and kind person always looking for what is interesting, beautiful, fun or important. I love having a good time, entertaining, being with friends and trying new things, and am looking for someone who likes to do the same. Kindness is a must have and I have a not-so-secret love of nerds. I also have a love/hate relationship with the gym.

Some things about me:

I spent the last year focusing on trying new things including sky diving, trapeze lessons, knitting lessons. sailing lessons, and traveling to parts of the U.S. and the world I have never seen (my favorites: Turkey and Charleston, SC).

I have 11 siblings and 23 nieces and nephews and I absolutely love the chaos.

I've had some pretty interesting jobs since moving to DC seven years ago including writing disability policy for the White House and writing international drug policy for the DEA. I currently work for a federal law enforcement agency and I absolutely love my job.

Cooking is one of my passions and I love trying new and exotic ingredients and recipes. My most recent departure from the ordinary was fresh salmon heads (I even ate the eyeball!).

I am a book snob. I don't mind wasting my time on a silly movie or listening to bubble gum pop music if I like the song, but when it comes to reading books, I figure I could spend an entire lifetime doing nothing but reading great books and never get through all of the ones worth reading so why waste my time on books that aren't worth the investment?

I think Aaron Sorkin is a brilliant writer and I love almost everything he has written even though I agree with almost none of it. The West Wing is the only TV show I own on DVD and I never get tired of it.

If any of the above sounds interesting, please reach out--I would love to talk to you.
What I’m doing with my life
Taking advantage of my positively charmed life.
I’m really good at
Cooking, making friends, being adventurous, dancing, serving others, knitting, bargain shopping, and being the coolest aunt ever.
The first things people usually notice about me
My hair. I do some pretty crazy things with it sometimes so it is typically the first thing people notice.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I could never choose a favorite book because there are just too many of them (books are one of my passions and I am a hopeless collector of them), but right now I am reading Robert Massie's biography of Catherine the Great and I just finished Gone Girl.

My favorite movies have Cary Grant or Gene Kelly in them--Philadelphia Story, Topper, An American in Paris...--but I love movies so there are very few that I absolutely won't watch (slasher flicks).

I love live theater and dance performances so I always look forward to the summer season at Wolf Trap. I recently saw a very interesting dance concert at the Harman Theater in DC and just purchased three performance of the NSO at the Kennedy Center so I am looking forward to some great music.

I don't know that I can choose a favorite food either, but certainly the list would include bacon, kale, beets, kabobs, most cheeses, seasonal vegetables, oranges right off the tree during citrus season, curries (Indian, Thai, you name it), BBQ and chocolate chip cookies. I am the child of an amazing baker (my mother) and a former restaurant owner/cook (my father) and from my childhood we have spent much of our time together as a family in the kitchen. Brunch is probably (definitely) my favorite meal.
The six things I could never do without
Family, friends, my kitchen, books, optimism and laughter
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Whether or not my pet turtle, Shaggy, shares my taste in at-home entertainment. If not, he has probably been super bored for nearly a decade.

Also, walking el Camino de Santiago someday.
On a typical Friday night I am
You never know with me. I love dancing and live music, the theater, doing dinner and a movie with friends, heading out of town or, from time to time, spending a night in all by myself.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm a pretty open book so if it rises to the level of private for me, I'm definitely not going to put it on an internet profile!
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 29–43
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
I have said something in this profile that makes you believe we'd mesh even better in person. Or if you know who the Oneders are.
