My Notes edit

My self-summary

When not lighting orphanages on fire so I can claim I saved kittens from them, I'm your mild mannered Clark Kent, minus the name and nice hairdo. I'm at a point right now where I could go to just about any path I choose, but that choice is hard to make. Partly because they're all so enticing and partly because I'm so worried I'll mess them up.

I like to help people in any way I can, which explains the interest in politics, teaching, and social issues. It makes me feel good to see someone else smile or make someone else laugh, even if I look like an ass in the process or get nothing out of the deal. I wouldn't say that I'm empathetic, but I do try to see things from all sides, even if I disagree with one.

I'm rather easy to entertain and please. I'm told I have a loud laugh, but that's only because I hope it's infectious. And let me tell you, I can laugh at almost anything. A little careless with money and "healthy foods", but the docs haven't found anything yet and I'd rather have another steak than another day. You only have one life, and I'd rather spend it with friends than on a treadmill.

The flip side is that I'm initially shy and reserved. A life of moving has left me with little confidence in my social skills, and so I usually won't approach anyone. If someone approaches me, then I'm a-okay. I might be quiet at first, but when I get comfortable I really open up.

I'm still a kid at heart: I still play video games, have action figures, and maintain a small Lego collection. If that kind of thing bothers you, I recommend you just move on to another profile. Too many adults these days pass up fun in the name of it being "childish". Seriously, when's the last time you had a good nerf gun battle? Shit's awesome.

What I'm doing with my life

I'm finishing up my Bachelor's in Computer Science and beginning to look for a job. I don't know what I'll do or where it will take me, I'm kind of leaving that up to fate. I don't actually know what I want to do with my life, so for the time being I'm just rolling with the whole "Programming" thing.

In the mean time, I'm working to better myself. I try to exercise daily, I've just started Tae Kwan Do (and rather enjoy it), am working at becoming more social. I need to learn to just take a blind jump for my life to become awesome, but I'm not quite there yet. I still need to know there's a net of some sort.

Once upon a time I wanted to be the Andrew Carngie of small websites, and perhaps that's something I'll yet achieve.

I'm really good at

Programming (mainly web stuff)
Organizing (I fucking love organizing, it's insane)
Dance Dance Revolution
Laughing at everything
Explaining technical things

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

My speaking voice
My constant smile

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: I stick mostly to reading things on the internet, and so don't read as many books as I probably should. I love almost anything by Terry Brooks or Tom Clancy. I know they're old, and so am I, but Animorphs. Otherwise it's sci-fi, fantasy, or political/war history (a recent interest). I also have a small Manga collection.

Movies: Frequency, Equilibrium, Cloverfield, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Truman Show, Ghost in the Shell, Transformers, The Number 23, A Beautiful Mind, Shawshank Redemption, Serenity

Television: Monk, Law & Order, EUReKA, Firefly, House, Psych, Lost, Venture Bros., Metalacolypse, Frisky Dingo, Shin-chan. I'm a kid at heart, too: Chowder, Misadventures of Flapjack, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Samurai Jack, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Angry Beavers. I'm also a fan of anime: Full Metal Alchemist, Vision of Escaflowne, Big O, G Gundam, Cowboy Bebop, FLCL, Trigun, Deathnote, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.

Video Games: (Hey, it's not my fault they forgot categories.) Legend of Zelda, Tales of Symphonia, Portal, Half Life, Team Fortress 2, Sonic the Hedgehog (mainly older games), Super Mario World, Super Mario Galaxy, Resident Evil, Goldeneye 007, Jet Force Gemini, Skies of Arcadia.

Music: Mostly Alt Rock and Rock - Blue October, Three Days Grace, Aviatic, 30 Seconds to Mars, Audiovent, Billy Talent, My Chemical Romance, Snow Patrol, All American Rejects, Plain White T's, Sum 41, Linkin' Park, Breaking Benjamin, I Am Ghost, Three Days Grace, Nine Inch Nails, Shinedown. I also greatly enjoy Weird Al Yankovic. Recently I've gotten into Piano pieces, as well, like stuff by David Lanz.

Foods: I'd like stay "almost anything", but my digestive system has a court order against that. I can't stand much spice and crave flavor, so I'm perfect for most generic American food. Also includes Chinese (the American kind, not authentic), enchiladas, hot dogs, ramen, pizza, mashed potatoes, chili, Cheeseburgers, spinach dip, pot stickers, anything alfredo, anything teriyaki, chicken, shrimp, lobster, cheddar biscuits, steak, cottage cheese, bananas, oranges, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Trix, Lucky Charms.

The six things I could never do without

1) INTERNET
2) Something that can access the internet
3) My Car
4) My mom
5) A notebook of some sort (and accompanying pen)
6) That gray stuff in my head

I spend a lot of time thinking about

everything. My mind tends to wander all over. Mostly I think about what could be, and reactions to potential events. It usually winds up using something you'd see on the Sci-Fi channel, like psychic powers or superheroes. Move cows with my mind, hot damn.

On a typical Friday night I am

watching USA. I love Monk and Psych and House. I may also be practicing Tae Kwan Do. I'd love to go out someplace, but Lowden is an hour from anywhere. With gas prices the way they are and nothing that gets me super excited, best to just stay home and save the money.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here

I still pick my nose now and then. (Don't worry, I use tissues afterwards.)

You should message me if

you feel like it. I generally have a rigorous entrance exam just for speaking with me, including short essay on world geography and a fitness test, but just for you I'll make an exception. So long as you can use complete sentences and require oxygen, feel free to use any of the 13.8x103 ways OKCupid allows you to contact me. Or you can IM me over AIM at RyoShinX. (You may also choose to communicate with me via the internet, I hear that's popular these days.)
