My self-summary
Right...I was born in Coos Bay, spent my middle and high school years growing up in Virginia, and then found myself magically back on the West coast and in the smallest (and weirdest) big city in the country - Portland.

The most important things about me?

~First name is Sarah.
~Pretty easy going, despite having an affinity for sarcasm.
~Try to see everything in a humorous light, even if that humor is in my head - which comes in handy when working with patients in the hospital.
~All around nerd, between catching up on video games I really need to play and making my own custom tiered chess board.
~Big into creative things.
~Might be a little weird.
~Have a tattoo of the Arc Reactor from Iron Man 2 on my wrist.
~Want to learn to salsa and swing dance, whitewater raft, and horseback ride before the summer is out.
What I’m doing with my life
I used to walk dogs at various veterinary clinics. Now I am employed at a hospital - dealing with all manner of crazy folk - and have been working the night shift for the last three years. I would like to continue my career somewhere in the medical field, and maybe travel somewhere down the line, but we'll see. Times change!

For now, I'm content to balance work with various other things, including sharing a living space with two cats (oddly both named after foreign alphabets), a great dane, and a pit bull.
I’m really good at
...being creative! I love doing anything that allows me to be artistic. I have dabbled in everything from visual journaling, to stained glass, woodworking, mosaic tiles, and found art. While I can't sketch or paint worth hell in a teacup, I excel at multimedia crafts. My most recent project is doing a "recycled art" piece for a local PDX gallery. I also very much love to write.

...being nerdy! Or geeky. I'm not exactly sure what the term for my kind is anymore. Some might call me a dork, and that's quite all right.

...cooking. I know, such a generic thing, right? My favorite thing to do is find a dish from a restaurant that I like, and try to recreate it at home to some delicious degree.
The first things people usually notice about me
How short I am. Oh, and the red hair.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Literacy:
Jonathan Lethem, Kurt Vonnegut, Charles de Lint, Patricia McKillip, Robin McKinley

Movies & Other Media:
The Fifth Element, Labyrinth, Inception, Bunraku, Avengers, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Iron Man, Repo! The Genetic Opera, Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog, The Rum Diary;
Dexter, Bones, Burn Notice, Farscape, Archer; anything Joss Whedon-esque; occasionally anime if the story and characters are well thought out

Musical Tendencies:
Mumford & Sons, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Counting Crows, Regina Spektor, Fun., Abney Park, Eisley, Imogen Heap, Imagine Dragons, Jesca Hoop, Sigur Ros; I lean towards groups that are not entirely well known. Ever hear of a style called "boom swing?"

Tastings:
Italian, Thai, Lebanese...sushi especially. I am always looking for new places to try. Portland is thankfully full of great food, at least for the days you don't feel like cooking.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Writing. If I have nothing else occupying my mind, which can change subjects pretty rapidly, I'm musing over either a novel or a short story idea. My favorite part of the year hands down is NaNoWriMo. Curious as to what that is? Ask me!
On a typical Friday night I am
Alas, I am usually working! But if not, the evening is usually a toss up between playing video games, getting into some new and ridiculous art project, or trying out a new microbrew with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I once spent over an hour discussing the mythology of Tolkien's books with a friend's mom. I also routinely use curse words from various scifi shows in place of the real thing.

If you want to discuss something nerdy, I am totally willing to join that conversation! But I am fully capable of passing for a semi normal person. ;)
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 24–34
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
You'd like to talk about something nerdy, or creative, or even know a good local place to have sushi or coffee. And if you don't mind a girl that keeps weird hours! Being a night shifter, coffee is always essential.
