I am nerdtacular, geekalicious, and yet oddly appealing.

My Self-Summary

"He attacked everything in life with a mix of extraordinary genius and naive incompetence, and it was often difficult to tell which was which."
- Douglas Adams

That's pretty much me in a nutshell. Douglas Adams is the man! Genius he was. RIP.

Some other stuff about me:

DISLIKES Red tape, paper cuts, BMW drivers, speed bumps, people who stand still to see what way they need to go at the top/bottom of an escalator, litter, tea without milk, coffee without milk, people who give giftvouchers, Txt spk, cramp while I'm sleeping, mosquitoes (why are they here? Anyone?); pineapple on pizza; pineapple on burgers; the fact that marketing dipshits think just because they threw a slice of pineapple on it's suddenly 'Hawaiian'. NEWSFLASH ARSEHOLES: Pineapples aren't even from Hawaii! People who don't use turn signals, soap operas, cameras (normal, video or speeding...especially speeding), annoying ringtones, twits that let their phones ring in movies, actually just cellphones in general, loathe them; repeating myself to morons, useless colleagues, hangovers, MTV, Steve Hofmeyr, Kurt Darren and almost every other Afrikaans male singer; celebrity magazines and celebrity worshipping culture in general...oh...and Hugh Jackman*.

LIKES Adrenalin, road trips and travelling, traffic cones, Cyanide and Happiness comics, biltong, live music and music festivals, cracking my knuckles, cracking my back, cracking pretty much any part of my anatomy that is crackable...I don't care how gross it might be, stand-up comedy, Natalie Portman, watching people pick their noses in traffic, picking my own nose in traffic, sleeping in on cloudy days, Simba Chutney Chips, inappropriate jokes, coveting my neighbour's ox...okay he doesn't really have an ox, but if he did I'd probably want it; riding in lifts, old towels that actually absorb moisture, wearing flip-flops, saying the word 'flip-flops', red wine, procrastinating, "post it" notes, playing 30 Seconds, and mayonnaise...in no particular order.

*okay, I actually like Hugh Jackman, but that rant felt like it needed a bit of Perry Cox :)

What I’m doing with my life

Well, I thought I was done studying, but my tuition bill and new text books beg to differ.

Right now I am working full time as an Industrial Engineer and studying part time.

I’m really good at

A bunch of things. Procrastinating, playing pool badly, Simpsons trivia circa 1995-2002, learning, being the second-palest person in Africa (it's a skill. Really) and listening to music. I kick ass at listening to music. I bet I can listen to music way better than you can listen to music...that's how good I am! [pats self on back. Gives ego on shoulder a cracker]. Also, I play a mean game of beerpong.

The first things people usually notice about me

Well, since I've known myself as long as I can remember I've sort of forgotten what my first impression of me was. Did that make sense? Of course it didn't.

Tell you what - Let me know when you have something for me. Deal?

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Man! This tiny little text space for all that?! This will not do. I'll have to be more specific.

BOOKS Mmmm...I don't read nearly as much as I'd like (or should) but my favourite book(s) is without a doubt Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy "trilogy", um...all five of 'em. Absolutely brilliant. Other favourites include Orwell's Animal Farm and 1984 and the whole Terry Pratchett Discworld series - which is a very good laugh. Currently reading Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance and I'm pretty sure it's going to make the cut once I finish it.

MOVIES: The list is very long but some of my favourites include Fight Club, The Shawshank Redemption, Garden State, Donnie Darko, The Big Lebowski, Memento, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Se7en, Serenity, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Snatch, Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels, Boondock Saints, Lucky Number Sleven, big (totally inaccurate) war epics like Gladiator, Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers; most Dramas and most comedies. I'm also a big fan of the whole comic book to movie trend, and although most of them fail miserably X-Men, X-2, Constantine, V for Vendetta, Sin City, Batman Begins and 300 made sitting throught the hordes of crappy ones worthwhile.

TV SHOWS: Mostly comedies and sitcoms like Scrubs, The Simpsons, Futurama, Friends, How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, That 70's Show, South Park, Black Books, Blackadder, Coupling and The IT Crowd; Talk shows like Jon Stewart's Daily Show, Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien and SNL and then the big, prime time shows like House, 24, LOST (yet I still watch that steaming pile of crap - I can't help it!!!), Rome, Rescue Me, Boston Legal, Heroes - and yes, I am a geek so I indulgence in some Stargate, Battlestar Galactica and Firefly, so sue me.

MUSIC: Indie, Rock and some Metal.

FOOD I'll eat anything...at least once, but I prefer seafood and Italian

The six things I could never do without

1. My PC. My life is on this stupid thing. 2. My bed. Best. Bed. Ever. 3. My music collection 4. A towel - Douglas Adams was onto something 5. My sense of humour - I never leave home without it 6. A wooden stake and some garlic cloves...because you never know...

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Life, the universe and everything.

And pink fluff. What the hell is that about?

On a typical Friday night I am

There's no such thing as a typical Friday night. I could be hanging out with friends, or going to a pub or club, or a live gig somewhere, or at home watching a movie, goofing around on the internet or ritual guinea pig sacrifices to Quetzaquatl, you know? The usual.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I've got a good one, but you'll have to get it out of me :-p

You should message me if

Well...actually you shouldn't. There. Don't message me, okay?

*Now let's see if there's anything to this reverse psychology thingy I've been hearing about*

Okay, serious now: If you stumble across my profile and I happen to be online, IM me. I love chatting to internet strangers and meeting new people. If you want to drop me a mail instead, that's cool too. I pretty much always reply.
