Favourite books:
Transmetropolitan, by Warren
Ellis. The
Discworld series, by Terry Prattchet.
Harry Potter as a Fridge Logic laden guilty pleasure, but also
HPMOR (Harry Potter
and the Methods of Rationality), a multiple points of divergence AU
fic that fixes, or at least examines, some of the plot holes and
such. Starship Troopers, by Heinlin. Joker and Luthor(aka the Man
of Steel story arc) by Azzarello. The Killing Joke, by Moore.
(notice a theme here? I like the Joker. And dystopian stuff). The
Obsidian Trilogy, by Lackey and Mallory. The Mage Wars Trilogy, by
Lackey and Niven (may also be known as the Gryphon trilogy).
Dresden Files, by Butcher (I need more!).
I'm an RPG player too. My favorite system... well, I honestly don't
have one.
D&D is what's most comfortable
(3.5). However,
OWoD
Storyteller System will always have a soft spot in my heart,
especially Werewolf and Demon. Rifts, as bad as it is, was a lot of
fun, and gave me some of the best gaming stories, so, yeah. My
favourite game worlds are World of Darkness (when not run quite as
full of despair as in the books) and the typical dungeonpunk
D&D world of the modern gaming era.
Favourite movie? Anything with a good storyline, that has
interesting characters, tensions, set pieces, and uses tropes
effectively and proficiently. So pretty much nothing from
Hollywood... I'm loving the Iron Man movies. But I do find a lot of
Hollywood movies perfectly entertaining, they just require shutting
off certain parts of one's brain.
Music? I like a lot of stuff, I mean, hell, I've got 20gigs of
music on my computer.. But the stuff I haven't really gotten tired
of is bands/singers like Voltaire, Amanda Palmer/Dresden Dolls,
Regina Spektor, Rasputina, etc. I have an inordinate fondness for
the song American Pie (the original. Madonna just fucked it
up).
As for food? Hm... a really good, not greasy, meat topped pizza. Or
scrambled eggs with feta and bacon, sausage and peppers, my
grandmother's sauce, my grandfather's meatloaf, a nice burger with
cheese and bacon. Lots of stuff. The list of what I don't like is
shorter, and anything not on that list, as long as the person
making it knows what they're doing, I'll probably like it.
