My self-summary
I am a student of culinary arts and journalism at American River College. I have earned my certificate of culinary arts, and will be earning my AA over the next semester. Yes, partially due to so many people asking, I am considering food writing for a career. But I'm also looking at, well, pretty much everything except sports writing. I also aspire to be a literary writer... ...but that's a bit stymied.

I'm a nerd! God yes, am I a fucking nerd. I have two tabletop games a week, a third in the offing, as soon as the GM puts it together, and I'm currently reviewing possibly the worst game ever written for FUN! Being a professional cook is inherently nerdy, if you're doing it right, since you have to be immersed in minutiae of chemistry, biology, and physics, especially when you're baking, which is my favourite type of cooking. You also have to develop a palette of flavour and colour, and use it well. Cuisine has it's own wheel of traits, much like a colour wheel, and you have to know what compliments, what contrasts, and what is interesting.

Why yes, I am quite opinionated, I love to expound on that which I know, I love to discuss that which can be debated. Politics, while in practice is brain-achingly interminable, to observe and theorize is electrifying and can cleave people together or cleave them apart.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm slaving away in a food service job that is slowly becoming less drudgery and more job. It doesn't bring in much, but it pays my phone bill and keeps some food in my stomach. I'm trying to get some more respect, and thus hours there so I can move forward with my life.

Other than that, gaming, going to school, hanging out with friends, and altogether being fairly non-serious about life, while occasionally taking it far too seriously.

I'm better now, though. Life, as they say, isn't serious business.
I’m really good at
Cooking, I'm a great cook, so I've been told, want to see? Just let me make something for you. Tell me your favourite thing, I'll learn how to make it, and I'll make it well, or keep trying and tinkering with things until it's good.

I'm actually pretty good at procrastinating, even the part where I suddenly have to do a paper at the last minute because I forgot all about it.

I seem to be pretty good at alienating people too, so if you're going to get to know me, have a bit of a thick skin, and understand that when I pick apart something, it's not personal.
The first things people usually notice about me
My demeanor. That's been bad. Let's make it good.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favourite books: Transmetropolitan, by Warren Ellis. The Discworld series, by Terry Prattchet. Harry Potter as a Fridge Logic laden guilty pleasure, but also HPMOR (Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality), a multiple points of divergence AU fic that fixes, or at least examines, some of the plot holes and such. Starship Troopers, by Heinlin. Joker and Luthor(aka the Man of Steel story arc) by Azzarello. The Killing Joke, by Moore. (notice a theme here? I like the Joker. And dystopian stuff). The Obsidian Trilogy, by Lackey and Mallory. The Mage Wars Trilogy, by Lackey and Niven (may also be known as the Gryphon trilogy). Dresden Files, by Butcher (I need more!).

I'm an RPG player too. My favorite system... well, I honestly don't have one. D&D is what's most comfortable (3.5). However, OWoD Storyteller System will always have a soft spot in my heart, especially Werewolf and Demon. Rifts, as bad as it is, was a lot of fun, and gave me some of the best gaming stories, so, yeah. My favourite game worlds are World of Darkness (when not run quite as full of despair as in the books) and the typical dungeonpunk D&D world of the modern gaming era.

Favourite movie? Anything with a good storyline, that has interesting characters, tensions, set pieces, and uses tropes effectively and proficiently. So pretty much nothing from Hollywood... I'm loving the Iron Man movies. But I do find a lot of Hollywood movies perfectly entertaining, they just require shutting off certain parts of one's brain.

Music? I like a lot of stuff, I mean, hell, I've got 20gigs of music on my computer.. But the stuff I haven't really gotten tired of is bands/singers like Voltaire, Amanda Palmer/Dresden Dolls, Regina Spektor, Rasputina, etc. I have an inordinate fondness for the song American Pie (the original. Madonna just fucked it up).

As for food? Hm... a really good, not greasy, meat topped pizza. Or scrambled eggs with feta and bacon, sausage and peppers, my grandmother's sauce, my grandfather's meatloaf, a nice burger with cheese and bacon. Lots of stuff. The list of what I don't like is shorter, and anything not on that list, as long as the person making it knows what they're doing, I'll probably like it.
The six things I could never do without
Food, but more so than the usual sustenance. I love to cook, it cheers me up, it energizes me, it helps me think.

Gaming. I love my table top rpgs, good escapism, good adventure, and sharing it with friends. And when I don't have that, I play a lot of online flash games.

Music. I need the background sound. If there isn't music, the tv is on, a movie, or I'm talking to someone, but I don't like quiet.

A computer. I spend most of my free time on my computer, to the point where I sometimes don't know what to do with myself without it.

Writing. I must be able to write when the fancy strikes me, whether crafting a world in fiction, or tearing down the fictions of the real world, I'm a writer, just need practice.

A good smack upside the head from time to time. I can usually do it, hopefully the last one sticks a while.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Fictions. Creating or partaking in them for entertainment, whether a story, a game, an art piece, what so ever be it. Also, how they exist and hamper, and how they can be torn down. Fictions can inspire, certainly, but maybe that which put the fiction in place is all the more inspiring.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
There is nothing private. You want to know something about me? Ask, I'll tell you all there is to know, unless decorum would caution against it.
I’m looking for
  • Guys and girls who like bi guys
  • Ages 20–27
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
First, don't just message me if you're just going to say "hey (sexy), how are you". You will, most likely, be ignored. I'm looking for some kind of relationship here, not some "on the down low" crap, which is the sense I get from these messages

You're a strong person whom defies gender norms. You don't mind someone who smokes. You can take care of yourself, but welcome someone who wants to take care of and be there for you when things get away from you, and are likewise.

If you can speak enochian in way that your words float in the air like stands of auditory silver.

Or just message me if you get 50% or more of my references in this.
