expressive, irreverent, and nurturing
My self-summary Propose an edit
I'm usually fairly reserved/quiet/shy around strangers, though the
level of shyness varies quite a bit depending on the person and my
caffeine intake that day and I sometimes have random bursts of
gregariousness when the mood strikes. I try not to take myself too
seriously and I try to accept people for who they are and
appreciate them, but I'm also difficult to manipulate and have
pretty strong boundaries. I truly believe that everyone has
something to teach me. I try not to regret anything, and instead
integrate the cringe worthy experiences into my life as lessons
learned. That's what I aspire to do anyway... I'm sarcastic by
nature, and I have a somewhat off beat sense of humor. I laugh
easily and often and I think that the most flattering thing someone
can do for someone else is to try to make them laugh. It just feels
so good. I'm playful and I love practical jokes and pranks,
roughhousing, tickle fights, good natured teasing, and random
physical competitions (arm wrestling, thumb wars, paper airplane
contests) and watching my friends engage in these is about as close
as I come to watching sports. I love animals and children and
adults with child like senses of wonder, enthusiasm and curiosity.
I totally count walking to work as exercising. And springtime gets
me high on life man. I tend to be intrigued by people who are quiet
at first and need some drawing out and have senses of humor that
kind of sneak up on you like a pleasant surprise. This can be
tricky since I'm also way quiet at first. In my day to day life
this is probably only an ideal situation when a more outgoing
mutual friend is there to bridge the gap. I have a soft spot for
nerdy, eccentric, unique types especially those who find themselves
questioning things all the time. I find cynical, sarcastic and
playfully bitter people very amusing. Thoughtfulness and
intelligence minus pretension are very attractive to me. Random
Factoids: I think Conan O'Brien probably has one of the highest
I.Q.'s on the planet. I generally only enjoy going to pubs and bars
when it's an off night and there aren't huge crowds/lots of noise.
I lived in Oregon for 4 years. I lived in Southern California for 3
years & found it soul crushing. I've also lived in New
Hampshire and New York, but only briefly. My brother is a musical
prodigy and I have a tin ear. I am a night owl to the max! I have
to try really hard to not make assumptions about people based on
their zodiac signs, yet still consider myself to be a fairly
rational person.

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
I'm working in my dream job and living in my favorite place on
earth surrounded by people I love, admire and respect. It rocks
pretty hard.
I'm really good at Propose an edit
Taking care of myself, others, children and animals. Getting
boring, tedious, red-tapey shit done. Being persistent, tenacious
and fierce when I need to be (which isn't often, but it's nice to
have in reserve sometimes). Connecting people with the
pre-pubescent boy side of their sense of humor.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
That I'm very quiet at first, but not necessarily shy...
My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit
I'll pretty much give anything a chance, but I especially
like:
Coming of age stories (A Tree Grows In Brooklyn, Angela's Ashes,
Tuck Everlasting), Asian American memoirs (I have no idea why,
perhaps I have a tendency to fetishize the other; The Woman
Warrior, Nisei Daughter, Catfish and Mandala) and End-Of-The-World
fiction (The Road, The Stand, Alas Babylon)
According to Netflix my favorite movie genres are Foreign, Comedy,
Drama, Independent, Horror, Thrillers, Sci-Fi & Fantasy
Hmm my favorite music at the moment (and for the last couple of
years) is alternative/indie/radical Hip Hop (The Coup, Dead Prez,
Jurassic 5) but I listen to a lot of other stuff as well. Here's a
random sampling from party shuffle on my iTunes (Pearl Jam, The
Mars Volta, David Bowie, Public Enemy, Queen, Wilco, The Beatles,
Gravediggaz, Dead Kennedys, Squirrel Nut Zippers, My Morning
Jacket, Talking Heads, Stellastar, Stevie Wonder, The Clash, The
Cars)
I'm one of the least picky eaters I know, but I try to eat organic,
local, and fresh (rather than processed) when I can. I'm not a Nazi
about it or anything though and will totally still eat the neon
orange mac & cheez and shit like that if someone serves it to
me. Foods I hate include Cheezits, Doritos (which should totally
have an "oes" at the end, yet doesn't...), Tater Tots, Olives, and
Hard Pretzels. I'm a beer, chocolate and coffee snob, but all wine
tastes pretty bad to me (though I have noticed that the dryer the
wine, the less offensive it tastes to me) so I'll drink box wine if
that's what's being served.
The six things I could never do without Propose an edit
Bathing at least every other day (I know how first-world this is,
and I am duly ashamed)
Laughter (my own and that of others)
Going barefoot whenever possible
Dairy (I tried)
Vermont (I tried, admittedly not very hard)
Affection
I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit
Right now, about how good my life is and how lucky I feel. Also
sometimes worrying about when the other shoe will drop.
On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit
Well, I work second shift M-F, so usually I'm working, but on a
typical Saturday night I'm... Drinking, loving, laughing, talking,
listening, watching, making, drugging, traveling, cooking,
cleaning, wandering.

You should message me if Propose an edit
For the purposes of dating: You like chubby girls, but are not
necessarily a 'chubby chaser' (in the fetishy, "ooh can I pinch
your arm fat?" way...) You are legally old enough to drink in the
U.S., even if you choose not to. It is biologically impossible for
you to have been my mom/dad (when I was born, you were under the
age of 12...) You don't smoke tobacco, for whatever reason that's a
total deal breaker for me. You want to talk to me, because even if
you show up in my stalkers list every day, I'm usually too shy to
initiate contact...
For the purposes of friendship/activity partners: Um, you live near
me? Dating people who don't is pretty much sucking up all of my gas
money!
Especially encouraged in either category: You're a night owl, there
seem to be so few of us, we must unite! You can introduce me to
something new or unusual, you can explain something you're
passionate about to me in excruciating detail, or you can tell me
how something works.
